Tim Tebow can't wear 3:16 eye black, so he throws for 316 in win

Categories: Sports, Tim Tebow

At Florida, Tim Tebow famously put the number 3:16 (as in the Biblical verse John 3:16) on his eye black. That's a no-go in the NFL -- so instead of writing the digits on his face, he wrote them in the box score of the Broncos' unbelievably improbable 29-23 overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, by throwing for 316 yards. We'll have more on this game tomorrow -- but in the meantime, check out the winning touchdown below and ponder the question about whether The Chosen One's total yardage in the contest was a coincidence.

There is a higher force at work here, 316 yards passing, 31.6 yards per completion and a 4rth quarter TV rating of 31.6. What are the odds of all that happening?  31.6 million to one!!  oh yeah

Gotta love the Jesus/Tebow freaks that didnt know what a field goal was a month ago. We officially have the lowest IQ fans in the NFL.

Don't make fun of Tim Tebow's religious beliefs.  Why do you say Chosen One? He is a believer in Christ.  I don't believe in coincidences.  Things happen for areason.  We all should open our bibles and read - before America is destroyed.Much better than Obama and his Marxist Muslimism destroying America.

The CBS ratings were 31.6 (316) highest ever for a play off game overtime !!

Coincidence. I think it's silly to suggest otherwise.

OK, I'm not a fan of the Broncos- but these numbers from one of your bloggers here are pretty interesting... Maybe this is foreshadowing of them winning the superbowl?  Sure makes you go "hmmmmmm", doesn't it?Tebow threw for 316 yards.Rothlisberger's interception came on 3rd and 16 and Steelers time of possession was 31 minutes and 6 seconds.Average yards per pass was 31.6"John" told him to pull trigger.Demaryius Thomas, the target for the game winner, was born on Christmas.

Habakkuk 3:16, I hear, and my body trembles,my lips quiver at the sound; rottenness enters into my bones, my steps totter beneath me. I will quietly wait for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us.

i find it quite amusing that you take a number like 316, and tac in on to the most overspoken verse in current christian history, why don't we for instance try another book! what about say, GENESIS 3:16 ... quote - To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

Now it's about the President of the United States?

Where in the bible does it talk about the 45,000 factories that have been outsourced since Reagan?

Christ on a crutch, no wonder Palin's so popular with you zealots!

Marxist Muslimism?

You might want to "google" that one.

Oh, and Iraq had nothing to do with 9'11.

SHOCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't believe in coincidences? How can you not believe in coincidences? Do you understand statistics, probabilities, high-school level math? You Jesus freaks are unbelievably narcissistic if you believe that God cares about a football game. Sorry, starving African children: God was watching football.

Amen! Stop beingTebow and God haters.  Tebow is the best thing that could've happened for the NFL.

The NFL wouldn't let him wear 3:16 under his eyes like he did in college.  So God decided to put it all over the sports pages and box scores:

Tebow had 316 total passing yards; He averaged 31.6 yards per pass (a playoff record); The Steeler's luck changed and Big Ben threw his 1st & only INT when it was 3rd and 16; The Steelers time of possession in the loss was 31 mins, 6 secs.

Tebow's brilliant performance resulted in the highest rated wild card game ever.  The CBS overnight viewer rating for the overtime period was (drum roll please)  .........  31.6 of course.    GOD IS AWESOME! GO TEBOW!

Man, it's ignorance that's stopping you from seeing the signs! All these references and you pass it off as a coincidence. Please, never consider a Christian as ignorant after that comment. Have a good one.

WOW! That's a lot of 316, not a coincidence, like most non believers think, it's called harnessing a higher power, it's called faith, leadership, and most of all belief. Nobody gave the Broncos a chance today. If someone would of told you that there woul be four different 316 refrences after today's game that just so happens to be Tim Tebows favorite bible verse you would of thought that person was "crazy"! It's easy to be a doubting Thomas, but you can take this to the bank, your first name won't be Demaryius!

How about 2 Timothy 3:16: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

Keep reading that book to show how wrong everyone is about the 316 thing and watch God open your eyes to the truth. God is awesome! Be blessed.

Tim was clear about His verse...It was John 3:16.

Hmmmm sad that you know the Genesis verse but can't appreciate why he uses John 3:16 and his verse to show the world...

except that JOHN 3:16 is Tebow's favorite verse, not Genesis..sorry

Perhaps he doesn't really care about a game, but he might care about the people playing it. A lot of people don't pray for God to help them win at something, just to help them do their best as a human being in whatever they are attempting to do. It doesn't mean he doesn't care or is distracted from the plight of others. Free will puts the responsability of the physical needs of ourselves and others in our own hands, he takes care of the spiritual.

I'm sorry David...my tone wasn't right at all with that and I realized it when I read it.  I don't know the odds of it being a coincidence or "just happening" either.  But, I would imagine them to be pretty high.

If you believe statistics and probabilities, you'd realize the odds of this being a coincidence.  Also, since when did God lose the power to be in more than one place and do more than one thing at a time?

Ignorance?

If someone doesn't believe in the same fairy tales you do, they're ignorant?
