Reader: Fox31's Eli Stokols should have stayed classy by not F-bombing Occupy Denverites

Kelsey Whipple's post about the profane exchange between Fox31's Eli Stokols and Occupy Denver protesters was a big conversation starter, with plenty of folks exhibiting vastly different takes on the same topic. Example: a reader who thinks Stokols should have kept himself in check despite provocation from the OD forces.

The irony of telling the Occupy Denver folks in the video to stay classy while dropping f-bombs and calling them morons must be lost on Eli. He should be able to his job as a journalist whether he respects the views of the protesters or not. You report and analyze the facts, something that isn't contingent upon them taking you out for a steak dinner stoking your ego.

Who said anything about the 1st Amendment? That's a strawman argument, Sharpshooter: I don't think anyone is saying that Eli Stokols broke the law or violated the Constitution, just that he was being unprofessional. I love when people use their 1st amendment rights because it gives me a chance to figure out who's a jerk and who's worth listening to.

Like the fact that Goldman Sachs just lost $2 billion, all because one of their top managers quit? Hell, at least he has a mandate. Funny how the Occupy people go on and on about the 1st amendment. Then, when someone uses the 1st amendment to tell the Occupiers to "Fuck Off", all they can do is whine about having their rights trampled. Sorry, dirtwarts, you're not the only ones allowed to speak their mind under the precious 1st amendment. Stokols has that right as well, and it's not up to you to choose how he expresses himself, unless of course you were smart enough to not turn every moment of press coverage into a show of absolute stupidity. Had you been a little more considerate, your feelings might not have been so hurt by his "attack". Stokols words may have been harsh and ill considered, but his analysis was, as far as this former Occupy supporter is concerned, spot on.
