Reader: John Hickenlooper earns great press nationally, but locals getting Hick fatigue

Hickenlooper.
Patricia Calhoun's post about the great press garnered by John Hickenlooper nationally -- including his name surfacing as a possible vice-presidential candidate -- didn't convince one reader, who's a bit lukewarm about the governor's idiosyncrasies.

Here's his take.

I think there's a bit of Hick fatigue going on with us locals. We're a lot more than goofy-beer swilling-attention grabbing politicians. In the big leagues, you gotta stand for something and its gotta be more than "Love me 'cause I'm quirky!"

http://www.denverpost.com/brea...  Here he goes again, speculating about what Mayor Hancock likes to do to his wife in the shower.  Seriously?  Does this guy need therapy?  Do we have an intern in the works too?

Hack's verbal bumbling has taken a distinctly prurient turn!

No, no, no, Michael -- Patty is the one suggesting that Hack has national appeal (on the heels of his telling elementary school students how sexy the Lt. Governor is) -- the reader to the contrary suggests that Hack's apolitical mien will not cut it on the national stage (even though he did brew beer and hawk lousy food in Denver).  Those may seem to make him eminently qualified to be Mayor of Denver and Governor of Colorado to Patty and most voters here, but others may use a more rational standard to evaluate candidates for high office.

I don't know about his political abilities, (OK, actually, I do, as I worked for the clown w/ the City of Denver and have yet to witness as much incompetence), but you hit the nail on the head about the shit food at the Wynkoop. I worked there as an expiditer for 2 miserable never ending months, shlepping his , ahem, "cuisine". Mmmmm, British pub fare! Since when does Great Britain have anything resembling good food? A three year old can of Alpo left open to simmer in a warm, humid bath house has more appeal than the Wynkoops slops. And I've NEVER seen as many roaches in a restaurant, the CIA doesn't have that many bugs. Walked out of that shithole about two minutes before the Friday rush hit and never looked back.
