Barack Obama snubs the Brown Palace...again
The Brown Palace has hosted every U.S. president since Teddy Roosevelt first visited in 1905, thirteen years after the hotel opened, except for two: Calvin Coolidge and Barack Obama. And now Obama has snubbed the Brown again, opting to stay at the JW Marriott in Cherry Creek last night...after slumming it at The Sink.

From Boulder, Obama helicoptered down to Denver, then hopped in a motorcade for the trip to Cherry Creek, where many of the roads are blocked off until noon today.
But the streets aren't so secure that the Secret Service couldn't skip out -- not for assignations with hookers, but reportedly to pick up to-go burgers at the Cherry Cricket. Which at least helps explain the Brown Palace snub...the burgers just aren't as good in the Ship Tavern. And the bar at Second Home in the Marriott also sees a lot more action....all those Creek cougars!
When Dwight Eisenhower was president, he used the Brown as a Western White House (his wife, Mamie, was from Denver); the hotel still has an Eisenhower suite, as well as a Roosevelt suite and a Reagan suite. But don't look for an Obama suite any time soon. When he last spent the night in Denver, in November 2011, he opted for the Four Seasons.
At least the JW Marriott is a lot more swank than the detention cells set up for protesters during the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, where Obama won the presidential nomination.
