Doug Lamborn touts his record -- a real reign of error!

Doug Lamborn.
Voters "like having someone with a proven record," Representative Doug Lamborn said after winning yesterday's primary. And what a record! Hell would have to freeze over in El Paso County -- which doesn't look likely, given the Waldo Canyon fire raging there -- before voters would skip sending this serial Shmuck of the Week back to Congress.

But maybe they figure that's what Washington, D.C. deserves.

Just a few of the incidents on the three-term Lamborn's "proven record" that hit below the Beltway:

5) Slow to See the Light
Last June, Lamborn signed on to a letter asking that federal funds be pulled from the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy program -- and then withdrew his support when he saw the light, realizing that the 2,300-employee National Renewal Energy Laboratory in Golden gets 90 percent of its budget from EERE grants, and losing that money would mean major job loss.

4) Cheap Date
While Senator Mark Udall was urging Colorado's congressional delegation to sit together for "date night" at President Barack Obama's 2012 State of the Union speech, Lamborn decided to boycott the event. All together now....

3) Sticky Situation
Last August, in an interview on the now-defunct Caplis & Silverman show , Lamborn compared supporting any Obama deal on the debt-ceiling to getting stuck to a tar baby:

"Even if some people say 'well, the Republicans should have done this, or should have done that,' they will hold the President responsible. Now, I don't even want to be associated with him, it's like touching a, a tar baby and you get it...you know you're stuck and you're part of the problem and you can't get away."

The comment (listen to it here) and clumsy explanation earned Lamborn a Worst Person in the World segment from Keith Olbermann -- but a majority of the readers who weighed in on a Colorado Springs Gazette poll sided with the pol they now apparently plan to send back to Congress.

2) Thanks, But No Thanks
Apparently Lamborn didn't appreciate that show of support from Gazette readers. Because earlier this month, he suggested a boycott of the paper and declined to participate in a joint interview with Robert Blaha, the businessman who spent $700,000 in the primary challenge...and lost, big.

1) He Knows It When He Doesn't See It

Does Kaite Falkenberg's photo of a little girl sitting in filthy, contaminated bathwater in coal country seem like child pornography to you? It did to Lamborn -- although he didn't bother to look at it before deciding it wasn't a fit display for a House subcommittee considering environmental damage.

Talk about obscene!

It says more about the people of Colorado Springs that they would actually re-elect a rampaging Neanderthal such as Lamborn than it says about the fool himself. Of course he represents his constituents, which by and large are hovering at his level or slightly below it.
