Jamal Hunter sues city after fellow inmates scald his genitals

Jamal Hunter spent a stretch of 2011 in jail -- and he still bears the scars.

Hunter has filed a lawsuit against the City and County of Denver and individual law enforcers for failing to properly protect him, after he says inmates scalded his genitals with boiling water and two deputies attacked him. See photos, the suit and more below.

According to the complaint, Hunter was arrested on April 29, 2011 on what's described as a "misdemeanor domestic charge" and placed in the Denver Detention Center's fifth-floor pod with a cellmate named Chris, "who snored loudly and frequently defecated on himself during his sleep."

As a result, Hunter requested that he be transferred within the same pod. Instead, he was sent to another one, where an inmate with Tourette's syndrome had a profane outburst in the shower. No fight actually took place, the suit maintains, but Hunter was shipped to another pod anyhow -- and this one "housed residents facing more significant criminal charges than his own," including some who were actively abusing drugs.

Again, Hunter complained, asking to be jailed alongside less dangerous inmates -- but the next pod he wound up in housed arrestees facing even more severe charges, including several who were gang members.

After these inmates threatened Hunter, he repeatedly made written requests for a transfer, but to no avail. Then, on July 18, the suit says his cellmates accused him of "snitching and insulting them behind their backs." Their alleged response began when one person put Hunter into a chokehold while another punched him in the face, then grabbed his legs and tied them together with string. After that, he was picked up and carried to a bed, where he was again slugged in the face, resulting in a broken nose.

Next, he was untied, ordered to strip and told to enter the cell's shower. He was afraid he was going to be raped, but instead, he was punched a few more times before an inmate returned with a container of scalding water and poured its contents on his waist, thighs and genitals.

At that point, Hunter passed out, only to awaken some time later screaming in agony, the suit says.

Ok, here is my take. As I have said before the police are the worst criminal gangs in the country. It is clear that the gang that scalded you got special favors from the police in return for the attack on you. That is how the police operate. The police admire the gangs in prison. Police are not anti-gang especially in Denver. it's the Denver police that let black gangs attack white people. The federal government had to step in and make arrests because the Denver police refused to. You were set-up by the police probably in exchange for drugs or prostitutes.

Why would any gang bother with you unless they got something in return from the police? You were set-up because you made a request for the police to do their job which is not allowed. The police are not there for your safety. They are there to beat people up and engage in every sadistic endeavor they can. Most street gangs have more integrity then the police do except the loser black mobs beating up white people.

Your case is solid and you must get it to a jury. You have a clear timeline that proves your case. A jury is not going to believe the police on this one. You have multiple times that you requested the police keep you safe but they seemed to put you in more danger each time. This seems like a clear case where the police recruited the prison gang to assault you.

I am pro-white and all my attacks come from whites and police especially white police officers. The Denver black gangs know who I am and steer clear of me. They know I am a square and they are wasting their time around me. They also know I address my police grievances in a court of law.

Focus on the timeline and present your case to a jury. You stand an excellent chance of winning no matter the color of the jury. I am pro-white and I think you will win so that means your case is good. Take the high road and let the police do all the lying. Just present the timeline and medical reports. You will get sympathy from a jury on this one.

Good luck on this and I hope you win in court.

If needed , have your attorney contact me in regards to my suit against the Denver County Jail  .

I will ALWAYS do  EVERYTHING in my power to assist accountability in law enforcement !

Police all across this nation display an unwarranted arrogance , & are TOO QUICK to hide behind their badges .

Why don't serial killers target cops ???

Really , why wouldn't they ?

It certainly makes more sense .

Most definitely easier to comprehend .......

Craig: for the record, while serving 6 years as a Corrections Specialist in an all-male Marine Corps Brig (where we never let inmate on inmate assault escalate to this degree) I specialized in fairly, impartially, and professionally prepping military sex-offenders for their registrations upon release, administering CODIS kits for both violent and sex offenders, and keeping their victims appraised of the inmates' statuses. I also have over 430 hours combined between being a Base Volunteer Victim Advocate and a Sexual Assault Response Team member in the civilian sector. I've seen all sides of this ugly business; the 18 year old Marine registered for statutory rape on his 17 year old girlfriend who's GySgt-daddy decided he didn't approve (age of consent is 18 in the UCMJ) and his life ruined, the Airman who may as well been the spokesperson for NAMBLA with 22 male victims with ages ranging from 2-8, the wife on base housing who was (dare I say, "just") slapped in the face and had her phone hidden from her as a control tactic, and the female Marine who spent 4 hours handcuffed to a bed getting beaten, bones broken, bruised every place imaginable, and sodomized. I would never have been successful in the Marine Corps as a misandrist, lol. I'm entitled to my opinion because quite frankly, I've fucking EARNED IT. Compared to that, you don't rate. So unless you have the years of experience I do in an actual corrections environment or working first-hand with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, not to even mention all the training required in specifically working with violent offenders, sex offenders, AND their victims... STFU.

Yeah. I'm wondering what the charges are that brought him to jail in the first place. Domestic assault should absolutely be held up to much higher punishment than it is currently.

He was being housed with violent criminal because he requested a transfer from his previous cell mates. Maybe you think the deputies should move him around until he is comfortable. It's not the Denver Marriott and he was most likely trying to get a cell to himself. Domestic violence isn't a very popular crime so maybe he should learn to keep his hands to himself on the outside and he won't put himself in these situations.

Thanks Elizabeth, nothing like a little misandry to start the day with.

Ah, yes. The Denver Sheriffs Department and Denver County Jail. Come for the detention. Stay for the civil rights abuses and choke hold murder! Make a pathetic civilian asshat who can't arrest someone outside of Denver County and has no real police powers  feel strong!

Wait; I'm supposed to feel sorry for a man arrested for DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and be stirred to anger when seeing graphic images of his face busted up? Looks like the perfect case of karma to me. His genitals are mutilated? Good; that compromises the likelihood he'll be a repeat offender, lure some other poor girl into a relationship and add to his list of victims. You'd have to be a complete idiot to commit the crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, or child abuse and expect to be treated well by other inmates. Even criminals have scruples. You know what they're NOT showing? The evidence against him from the domestic case. Bet that wasn't pretty either. He wanted to be housed with inmates with "lesser" offenses similar to his? So domestic violence isn't that serious, but being victimized by others equally strong of the same gender is? He just wanted to be around other wife beaters like himself who would validate his behavior, enable future similar behavior, and teach him through their experiences of getting caught how to better avoid getting caught the next time... how sweet. :(

@WhoCares You are right on target. Maybe not all police are like that, But the temptation is there. And I have seen the corrupt sadistic ones.

Just because someone is arrested for domestic violence doesn't mean they committed it.
