James Holmes railroaded...for running a red light, says traffic-ticket critic

Despite the allegations against him in the Aurora Theater Shooting, accused killer James Holmes has plenty of defenders, including members of the James Holmes Is Innocent Facebook page and so-called Holmies fan groups. Now, an editor at the Washington Times is also saying Holmes was railroaded -- but only when it comes to running a red light before the attack.

As noted by Mediaite, Richard Diamond, a senior opinion editor for the conservative Washington paper, runs a sideline blog called The Newspaper.com, which describes itself as a "journal on the politics of driving." This week, Diamond noted that Holmes "had been flashed by a red light camera headed in the direction of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater just ten days before the attack" -- so soon before the July 20 massacre that "Holmes was in custody before the ticket was mailed, and it is not known whether he ever saw the tell-tale flash in his rear-view mirror."

Here's a larger look at a photo shared by Diamond of Holmes running the light while turning left from East Mississippi Avenue onto South Abilene Street:

For Diamond, though, the most important fact about the ticket appears to be the length of the yellow light. He writes:

As can be seen from the video of the violation taken by Xerox (formerly Affiliated Computer Services), Holmes was just a few feet from the crosswalk when the light changed from yellow to red and the camera flashed. The yellow warning signal lasted just 2.9 seconds -- below the federal minimum requirement established by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

"MUTCD (Section 4D.10) provides guidance regarding the duration of yellow change interval," FHWA's 2009 issue brief on Engineering Countermeasures to Reduce Red-Light Running explained. "It indicates that the duration of the yellow change interval should be approximately 3 to 6 seconds, with longer intervals reserved for high-speed approaches. The MUTCD does not provide guidance regarding the calculation of clearance interval durations other than to provide ranges of acceptable values... Using a yellow change interval length less than 3 seconds may violate driver expectancy and result in frequent entry on red indications. If the interval is too short, rear-end crashes may result."

Who cares about a red light ticket. Go find the person that helped Holmes in his attack. I don't think he is completely innocent, however I do know that he wasn't the shooter. He was never holding any gun when the police found him, he never admitted to the crime, and he didn't have on a gas mask. I know all of this from doing my research. He played a part in this, but there was someone else that did all the work. Someone trained with precision shooting skills. James Holmes couldn't even get on a shooting range. The kids not innocent, rather he was drugged, or which ever the case may be. When police found him, he couldn't even stand according to a police officers statement, before the judge issued the gag order. There were two assault rifles, a shotgun, and a pistol. A assault rifle in the theater, and one outside the theater, in addition to the rifle and the handgun, with all the ammunition. Lmao yea scooby doo, and shagy can solve this one. Someone got a way, and the police don't want to admit they were wrong, when the Chief said there's only one suspect. He should have said, it's a ongoing investigation, and we do have a suspect in custody. People want to believe the MSM and police. When will you learn you can't trust everything you hear, or anyone. The people that are running this investigation, are the same people that don't have respect for the public on the day to day bases, and there primary job function is to protect and serve.

Ill pay the fine if I get the chance to bring him a sharp brick in prison, he can use it to scrub his hemorrhoids with love from the "we hope you burn in hell hemorrhoid brick company of Colorado. "

Wow, what poor taste and a pathetic effort to get attention. Do you hire people who were fired from tmz for too poor taste exclusively?

Hey fuck face nikki. The guy has NOT been proven guilty yet. We have not heard his side of the story. All we know is what the media tells us dip shit. Yes innocent people have been hurt. We need to find out who did it instead of jumping to conclusions.

@streetcred Seems to me his side of the story involves him killing 12 people...  and as long as I'm not on the actual jury, I stand in the court of public opinion and believe he is guilty without a trial.... and just how fucking stupid can you be to actually believe there is some kind of conspiracy...he's a fuck up and he killed those folks, find a new hero.

didn't know you are a judge able to sentence a suspect without enough evidence , did you see the guy kill anyone? no surveillance footage and you believe blindly that he murdered people. You're the one who should be ashamed of posting without knowing crap about this case

@my2cents  The people who believe this was a conspiracy are just as stupid as the people who believe someone is guilty without proof. Believing a conspiracy is possible is much more sane than believing conspiracies don't exist. "Guilty without a trial" makes you sound "fucking stupid".

@letask Naah Didnt see him do it, But he just so happened to be in the parking lot with a gas mask and some pistols and rifles. And not only that but his house was booby trapped for policemen... hmmmmm We should call Scooby do and The Gang for THIS ONE ! Smh.

If you are going to stand and wait for the cops to get there... holding the gun and admit you did it.... tell others that you want to do it.... you've admitted the crime, you've been identified by the living witnesses, don't see the need for a trial.  Never said conspiracies don't exist, but this was not a case of conspiracy.
