When Greeley's Treff Carpenter, a field engineer for Noble Energy, died Sunday after a fall in Boulder Canyon, he was doing something he loved.

That's clear from his Facebook page, which is dominated by photos and videos of mountain climbing -- a couple posted just days before his tragic death. See several of them below.

Here's a photo of Carpenter, left, and friend James Wilson on the summit of Torreys Peak, a notable Colorado 14er. It was posted on August 30.

Shared that same day was a video shot by Carpenter in which Wilson can be seen negotiating tricky terrain described by one commenter as the "knife edge."

Carpenter's info page describes him as a graduate of Logan-Rogersville High School in Rogersville, Missouri. College stints at West Texas A&M and Oklahoma Christian University followed. His activities and interests include old cars, and his eclectic musical tastes ranged from Radiohead to Mastodon. In addition, 7News reports, he was a member of the Longmont Church of Christ climbing group, whose members are mostly in their twenties and thirties.

No wonder all of the photos in his Facebook album pertain to scaling heights, the beauty of nature and the people he loved. Here are some examples.
