During alcohol prohibition in the 1920s, all profits went to enrich thugs and criminals, young men died every day on inner-city streets while battling over turf, a fortune was wasted on enforcement, and billions in taxes were lost, finally, the economy collapsed —does that sound somewhat familiar?

The only people that believe prohibition is working are the ones making a corrupt living by enforcing laws in it's name, and those amassing huge fortunes on the black market profits. On Tuesday, El Paso County commissioners were scheduled to hold a first reading of Ordinance 13-01, which would ban the sale and cultivation of recreational marijuana in unincorporated areas.

If commissioners go ahead with a ban in response to the passage of Amendment 64, they wouldn't be the first; Douglas County commissioners looked poised to earn that distinction as they entered a meeting Tuesday.

**** Colorado Springs High School Student Arrested for Distributing Pot Brownie ****

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Another student was in the hospital Thursday after ingesting a pot brownie. Only this time, authorities say the girl knew exactly what she was eating.

Even though he didn't deceive his fellow classmate, a 14-year-old Air Academy High School student met the same end as a pair of CU Boulder students did for feeding marijuana-laced baked goods to an unassuming class almost a week ago.

He was arrested on felony charges for the distribution of marijuana.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, the boy gave the marijuana brownie to the girl, also 14, who ended up sickened and hospitalized. While she may not have known what she was in for, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jeff Kramer said the girl was not unaware of the substance she was about to ingest.

The boy also gave a pot brownie to another high school girl who did not proceed to eat it, according to the Gazette.

The 10-year-old girl, a student at Evans Elementary School in El Paso County was taken out of the school in handcuffs under a zero tolerance policy employed by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, KKTV Colorado Springs reported.

The girl said she got the marijuana from a relative who possesses a medical marijuana card, the station reported.

Colorado also has laws that determine a 10-year-old can be “mentally culpable” of a crime.

"When you look at it legally from the legal standpoint, once the child hits the age of 10, then in the state of Colorado they have reached the age of mental culpability or committing a crime and being charged with a crime," said Jeff Kramer of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office

For alcohol "adults" is 21 and over for tobacco "adults" is 18 and over.
