Peter Tebow, Tim's Denver-based brother, celebrates Broncos loss on Twitter

Peter Tebow.
After the Broncos' shocking and humiliating loss to the Ravens in Saturday's AFC playoff game, plenty of Baltimore fans and Peyton Manning haters expressed their glee on social media.

But arguably the most improbable celebrant was Denver-based preacher Peter Tebow, whose brother Tim led the Broncos to a post-season win last season. Here's what he had to say on Twitter.

Last March, we introduced you to the more obscure Tebow in the post "Meet Peter Tebow, Tim's older brother, ministry leader and local church star." Here's how writer Kylie Horner described one of Peter's early talks at Highline Community Church in Littleton:

Peter Tebow delivering a sermon at Highline Community Church.
Not suprisingly, Peter made references to Corinthians 15:10 -- growing up in a Christian household, that's how he relates to the world. In his sermon, he said, "Gosh, I grew up in the South, and the denomination I grew up in, man, when I was a kid, we went around knocking on doors and trying to lead people to Jesus, ya know. I was probably fifteen years old doing that. The first sermon I ever preached, I was sixteen-years old and it was in Jamaica in this big, like, cathedral. And with a pulpit that was way raised up, like literally where you're like eye to eye with the balcony.

"And on the other hand, there was the dark side," he continued. "There were the addictions, the internal battle. There was the side I wanted everyone to see: 'It's Preacher Peter! And then there was this other guy. I didn't like that guy. This other guy killed me. See, this guy was addicted. He struggled. He put on a good face on the outside, and then he'd go home and be all alone."

Parishioners with whom Horner spoke for her report found Peter's words to be "passionate" and "authentic." But the reviews of his tweet on Saturday were considerably less positive.

Sportswriter and frequent ESPN contributor Bomani Jones didn't rip Peter for his candor...but he still had a question:

Others understandably found Peter's delight classless. Here's one example:

And here's another:

Still, this one struck us as the most on-point:

To that, all we can add is, "Amen, brother."

We all know Tim's the better brother anyway, all the way around!

Where is the connection between a completely benign post about a team that screwed over his brother and Christianity? This article has the most obvious agenda.

haha totally not stoked on the over glorified "christian" movement, but this is not a big deal in the slightest

I love how Denverites are so quick to find a scapegoat. Raiders fans show more class.

Still wondering why this is a story. Pretty stupid to think Christians can't have feelings and we're all supposed to be "nice gentlemen." God forbid we have the feelings he gave us!

So as Christians we are supposed to be perfect?? I would have been happy too after all they did to my brother. Nothing wrong with having human feelings, geez. Jesus was the perfect one, not humans!!!! We are not perfect, and can't be because Jesus was!!!

Wow!! So because he's a preacher he's not allowed to have his own views? Its football people. We all have a team. We all have our players. If he wants to be happy hes allowed that right. We lost. It blows. But thats his BROTHER. Shit, get over it crybabies. Wtf does Christianity have to do w football???

I'm so sick of people turning everything into religious politics. It's football! It's a violent, vain and highly competitive sport. There's nothing Christ like about it. So what does someone's faith preference have to do with any of it?? Everyone was so wrapped up in Tebows gross exploitation of his prayer dance, they became oblivious to the fact that he played horribly. Kid had potential in college ball but he has some growth to overcome in the big leagues. Maybe if he spent more time focusing on what people are paying him millions for and less on trademarking some empty gesture of "Christian values" he wouldn't have been traded. Shame on you Westword for being part of the problem.

Bronco's may have lost but we came a hell of a lot further than Tebow sitting on the bench the whole season.

And this sounds like typical loser whining. But hey, you gotta hate on something. I could care less about Pete. And I certainly find this trivial at best. Hypocrites abound, even among those calling the kettle black.

Who cares? I was making Tebow jokes the entire 4th quarter. Broncos should have shown a little faith in their offense on 4th down with only 31 seconds to go. I saw that coming and said that Tebow told me they should go for it. But I suppose you need some scapegoat to be mad at. Ladeedah.

Burma you have that partially correct. It's typical Christian.

He is bitter about his brother getting traded. Peter that's football. Sorry you are a bitter small man to enjoy Denver's loss. Maybe you need to look in the mirror.

I think it's awesome.. not because of the Bronco bashing, but because it shows just what the true nature of these budding church stars is....FAKE!
