High Times Denver Cannabis Cup drops "medical" from name, tickets on sale
Since our first post on the event, the folks at High Times magazine have decided to include everyone in the festivities -- almost. Unfortunately for Colorado's independent growers, the competition is only for medical marijuana dispensaries. Still, we bet there'll be plenty of fine Colorado homegrown floating around the smoking area those two days.
VIP passes to the event will run you $110 for both days, while general admission is $55 for a two-day pass or $30 for a single day. What that gets you is access to the Exdo events center, where vendors of all sorts of marijuana-related gear will be set up, as well as the smoking areas set off from the actual venue.
In previous years, that has meant medical marijuana patients only. But the ticket site confirms there will be a "recreating" area for adults over 21 to use cannabis. The idea, according to High Times, is to have people from around the country at the event "sample cannabis freedom and bring the idea of cannabis freedom home with them."
The magazine is also hosting a Saturday night kickoff party at Red Rocks with weedcentric groups Slightly Stoopid and Cypress Hill headlining. It's unclear from the High Times site whether your Cup ticket will get you into the concert, but it doesn't appear that's the case considering Ticketmaster is selling $50.70 concert-only tickets on their site.
Also going on that weekend is the annual 4/20 rally and smoke-in at Denver's Civic Center Park. Activist Miguel Lopez announced his schedule last week.
