Reader: Police in other states definitely profile Colorado cars, and I'm proof

Our post about the arrest of Colorado's Brian Unbehaun for marijuana possession in Iowa touched on the question of whether police in other states are profiling cars with Colorado plates.

One reader is convinced that they are, based on a personal experience.

Got pulled over going home to tx for niece's baptism. Made it there but on the way back I was stopped by a state trooper for going 5 over. 20 minutes later the drug dog was there and they found less than a gram of wax and I was charged with a felony. I ha ve a medicinal marijuana license in Colorado.

Texas was my experience (twice),  My father was ill and i was driving to Texas from Colorado.

I was pulled over the first time for ' did not yield for emergency vehicle'  really.  He had another Colorado licensed vehicle pulled over.  No ticket was given but the officer was constantly "you got drugs in that car"  "we know u do, just lets us search it"  I refused and was released.  Not so bad till my return 2 months later when my father died.  This time i was pulled over for 67 in a 65 zone, could a been.  This time I refused to grant a search and the offcier came up with the all time favorite excuse,  "I think I smell marijuana!".   Really,  he did the search found nothing.   SOOOOOO  wrong. I was 3 hours late to my mothers house.   How can we Stop this kind of profiling

Same old crap different people

Welcome to states rights.  All for it.

If its legal in CO, keep it in CO.

We should just get aggressive with these states harassing out of state Colorado Drivers. Basically put Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah on notice that Colorado Residents will boycott spending money in their nasty shithole states if this continues. We'll just drive on thru, won't spend money on Gas, Lodging, etc.

Be nice if our douchebag Governor got on board with this also...

And it's just a matter of time before the DEA has drug-sniffing dogs at airport gates to welcome incoming air passengers from flights out of Denver...

They don't just profile the vehicles ... they profile the people in the vehicles.

If you look like a stupid stoner, the cops are more likely to pull you over, logically so.

The dude in the above mug shot could be Chris Bartkowicz's stunt double.

@richardbarrett1701 Very interesting story, Richard. We're going to make it an upcoming Comment of the Day. Appreciate you sharing your experiences.

@thedawg You guys are surrounded by a lot of shitty states.  So am I, but we have lakes to escape to Canada should the need arise.  Eff Utah and Oklahoma!

No, but they also have their priorities FU.

So, they will continue this approach of harassment built on discrimination based on where you live. My biggest concern is they probably r acting on orders from some political moron.

@ecurmudgeon You think they have the man power or resources for that? LOL!
