Photos: Broncos' five best -- and five worst -- draft picks of all-time

Worst Broncos Pick of All-Time: Marcus Nash
marcus nash card.jpg
Marcus Nash.
Nash was drafted in the first round of the 1998 draft and was expected to be a terror of a wide receiver. But during his first year, he only played eight games and caught just four passes for 76 yards. In year two, he played in just two games and caught nothing but the cold chill of disappointment from Broncos' loyalists. He was subsequently traded to Miami, which dealt him to Baltimore. By 2003, he was in the Arena Football League. Grim.

Best Pick of All-Time: Terrell Davis

Terrell Davis.
Davis was a sixth-rounder out of Georgia, and while his career was cut much too short because of injury, his handful of great seasons still makes him a possible Hall of Fame candidate. Moreover, he's the reason why the Broncos finally won two Super Bowls -- the only two in franchise history so far.

That's a lot to live up to, Sylvester Williams. Good luck.

Thank you Matt Lepsis for ending the career of the best running back we ever had.

Thanks you mighty-mouse rag-arm Brian Griese for throwing the pick that caused it.

Terrell could possibly have an all time top-ten HOF running back.  Makes me want to puke.

Best non-draft pick (better than just about anyone else the Broncos drafted, aside from Shannon Sharpe): Rod Smith.

Elway was drafted by Baltimore.  Maybe let ESPN do the sports writing.  Last sports article I read on Westword.

Also..... No Ted Gregory on this list?  He was a first round pick and didn't even play a down for Denver.

Uh..... The Broncos didn't draft John Elway.  He was traded from Baltimore, of whom he refused to play for if you recall in 1983.

I will remember this draft for a long time ! There are going to be a SHIT-LOAD of future HOFers' going in the later rounds due to over analyzing . Even more so than normal . Two WR , a lone QB, AND not a single RB taken in Round One !?!

AMAZING !!!

It WILL get much more interesting today and tomorrow !

Elway wasn't "picked" by the Broncos, they traded for him - Baltimore picked him. Stick with the weed stories, Westword.

Karl Mecklenburg was a 12th round pick and ended up being one of the most dominant linebackers of his era.
