Photos: Badass Aurora cops during the '80s

Big photos below.
Update below: Facebook is the perfect place to share old photos -- even for the Aurora Police Department.

Earlier today, the APD shared a slew of amazing, mostly black-and-white images from the 1980s featuring lots of bushy hair, porn-star mustaches, antiquated equipment, big guns and badass attitudes. They look like outtakes from a vintage Sidney Lumet cop-drama we wish we could be watching right now. Check out the collection below, complete with captions from the APD.

Update: Shortly after the publication of this post, we heard from the son of Aurora Police veteran Jim Perrott, who shared a great photo of his dad with a perp circa the early 1980s.

Ah, yes, the 80's Aurora PD. Watching as the son of Aurora's mayor snorts a couple of lines, steals a car and wraps it around a tree, gets escorted back to the party and everyone gets threatened with arrest unless we babysit the little A**hole. Or, behind the long defunct Mardi Gras when they released a bunch of police dogs on the crowd because of a fight between two guys and were recorded laughing about it over the police radio. Or hanging out at video arcades to ogle 14yr old girls, back when Madonna started the underwear on the outside craze. Or letting the future Gov of Colorado skate on a possession charge, for which there is a picture, but wait a minute- that was the 70's.

Whole different, but mildly disgusting, decade

I can't get enough of the 'feel good stories' which include the smiling officer AND the OH SO IMPORTANT, 'guy w/ the camera ' . A cop DOESN'T go out and purchase a homeless man a pair of shoes W/O some kind of form of media attention set up for the PROPAGANDA B.S. !!!...  .
