The memorial sign dedication ceremony honoring Ah Zet Khan and Za May Khan, two children killed near 14th and Yosemite in a still unsolved March hit and run, is emblematic of numerous disturbing car-pedestrian incidents that have taken place on metro-area roadways of late. And now there's been another one.

Overnight, a man who'd just gotten off a bus was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver.

Here's the first tweet about the situation from the Denver Police Department Twitter account....

...and here's the second, tweeted within the hour:

More details come courtesy of 7News, which reports that the victim had just dismounted from a bus at around 3 a.m. and was heading across the street in the middle of the block along with several other departing passengers when he was hit. He was transported to an area hospital but couldn't be revived.

Neither the victim nor the driver under arrest has been identified at this early stage of the investigation.

I can't wait to see the how the 'NanoGram' limit effects the Colorado driver . Best pass on the 'bowl' at the BBQ this weekend . Same diff if you replace the alcohol involved D.U.I. w/ marijuana .

Smoke pot OR drive . Colorado voters made it impossible to do both . Chalk one up for the drunks who live w/ the luxury of 'sleeping it off', and being done w/ the threat of imprisonment  once they have rolled their hung over asses outta bed ...

Maybe they should start using crosswalks and walking when it says to walk; not just because there's no cars coming. Just a thought. And don't wear dark clothes if you're gonna be out walking at night. It's pretty hard to get run over if you're looking at oncoming traffic and paying attention to what they're doing and not crossing just because you have a "walk" signal or think they're a ways off.

It's the risk one takes when drinking and driving . Someone running out in front of you away from ANY type of crossing or light !

Will the 8 - 12 year sentence be worth it, unless he's a cop or the son of an APD officer ?

Should this be the case, never mind . We will hear very little ......

Why do so many pedestrians carelessly step in front of moving cars that have neither stopped nor even slowed down?

@Justin Jones ... it'll be much safer once they lower the DUI limit to 0.05
