Reader: Nathan Dunlap and James Holmes deserve execution, not clemency

Dunlap.
Yesterday, we detailed the arguments in a clemency petition for Nathan Dunlap, who's slated to be put to death for killing four people at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in 1993. But the many arguments made by Dunlap's representatives failed to sway one reader, who also believes the Aurora theater shooter deserves to pay the ultimate penalty.

Green_eyes writes:

Dunlap deserves to die for his crime.... So does Holmes.... I have no sympathy for either one, they made their choice, being insane or bipolar doesn't justify their actions....

It is important to view Mr. Dunlap’s case in the context of Colorado’s biased and unfair capital punishment system. A new study shows that the death penalty is applied in a very arbitrary manner in our state, including concerns regarding race and geography, and we certainly should not be moving forward with any executions in Colorado until these serious issues are resolved.
