Categories: Things to Do

Big photos below.
Editor's note: We've updated our original post, first published on June 27, to include a flurry of additional cancellations -- well over a dozen. Find the additions listed in alphabetical order.

Fourth of July fireworks are an American tradition. But given the fire danger in Colorado, more and more communities are canceling their extravaganzas.

So...which shows are still on, and which ones aren't going to happen?

Look below for a wide-ranging list from across the state, complete with links and descriptions courtesy of city and event websites. The info is subject to change: Note that Golden cancelled its display while we were writing this post. But here's the best current info about where to go to watch the skies light up.

Sad, but, yes, it's much worse than last year's fires, and the shows were cancelled. It's dangerous & we don't need anymore bad air quality w/ it.

I think they should ban public smoking, especially in cars, before they ban fireworks. More fires are started by cigarette butts...

Definitely our state has no more money to spend putting out fires, many bridges and roads need fixing where will the money come from. Not just that but the huge tragedies of people losing their homes. Jefferson county should of been the first to ban all fires of any kind! This should mean fines and MAJOR JAIL TIME.
