Photos: Ten manliest Colorado cities

Big photos below.
What does manliness mean in the 21st century? According to our friends at the real estate blog for Movoto, who've compiled a list of Colorado's ten manliest cities, it's a combination of things. Like steakhouses. And cigar shops. And gun stores.

Look below to see Movoto's top ten, complete with photos interspersed with details about the ultra-scientific study shared on the original post. Betcha can't guess who's number one. Or number two. Or number three....

Number 10: Lakewood

Barber Shops: A Close Shave and a Neat Haircut

Ah, the barber shop. This is the closest most men are willing to get to a "spa," whatever that is. It's in these temples to the male noggin that we're willing to trust highly-trained experts to cut our hair and shave our faces for us using the only real implements for doing so: scissors and a straight razor. They'll also chat with us about sports, the latest greatest trucks, or--if we so choose -- not a damn thing at all.

Grand Junction was a cut above Colorado's other cities when it came to barber shops per capita, followed by Littleton and Denver.

Number 9: Lafayette

Boxing Gyms: A Gentleman's Sport

After you've gotten your hair cut all tidy and your mustache waxed, it's time to practice your proficiency at pugilism. Sure, you can swing away at a speed bag in most gyms, but it's at one specifically meant for boxing that you'll find a salty coach figure ready to bark nearly incomprehensible orders to duck, weave, and jab at you.

As it turns out, only eight of the top 25 cities in Colorado have one. Englewood has the most on a per capita basis, followed by Littleton, and then Wheat Ridge.

Continue to keep counting down Colorado's ten manliest cities.

The ONLY accurate information on this piece is the cover photo of my husband. Indeed, he is the manliest of men. :)

Real Colorado men live in the mountains ... Fuck the front range

Seriously. Boulder is manly? Loveland has Loveland Pass (LMAO). What a stupid story. Do you people even live in Colorado? I think that to write for the Westword you have to be some 35 year old washed up lush with multicolored hair that goes to trendy dive bars on South Broadway.

But the way, Loveland Pass is nowhere near Loveland

Since the Sons of Silence can be found in Commerce City.........

This is so dumb that I'm going to have to "unlike" Westword. I like a few things Westword does but seeing posts like this makes it not worth it. Later dudes.

And... Is the PHOTO supposed to be enticing???? WOW, this "journalist" should go back to school!!!

Can I have that 5 min of my life back? I should have stopped at the word "Westword." So, if I understand this correctly, the 10 manliest cities in Colorado are the Denver metro area, Ft. Fun, and, (let's see, we need another big city..., um, can't be Colorado Springs, Christians live there....) Grand Junction. Does this "writter" even know where Colorado is?

this is really stupid in every word ....duh....

Wow, Loveland Pass in Loveland? Englewood (pictured in the mountains) is the manliest city? I have now wasted an additional 2 minutes writing this post to the 5 minutes wasted reading this story. Hipster, wanna-think-they-know-cool writers for the Westword should probably stick to writing about people riding on bicycles. Englewood and Littleton are most definitely NOT Colorado's manliest cities, trust that.

It is already been said, but Jeez anyone should know that Loveland Pass is not the City of Loveland, And I am sorry, I grew up in Englewood. Although it was a nice city, It was always just a bedroom community with a now defunct shopping center. How on earth did it get # 1 on the list .

Obviously this is tongue-in-cheek, but you should pay for writers that actually live in Colorado and didn't just do Google searches for Colorado cities (without looking at the map, mind you). Did this story come from your Middle East correspondent, writing from Syria, or something?

Ummmmm, Loveland pass is NOT in Loveland... Englewood is NOT in the mountains and how on earth can the brewerys in Denver classify it as a "manly" city??? Women drink beer too!!!

people who write for the westword are hands down the most retarded hipsters, EVER! how about hiring someone who actually writes articles about subjects people are passionate about, rather than hipster bullshit....at least get writers that know what the fuck they are talking about.

Does this make the top 10 list of Roberts' WORST articles ???

Englewood doesn't have mountains. Next article should be: "top 10 weakest news magazines," with Westword at #1.

Yeah, same comment on Loveland. The ski area/pass and the city are not the same.

In your list, Loveland, CO comes up, citing Loveland Pass. I'm hoping y'all own a map, because the town of Loveland is about an hour and a half away from Loveland Pass. Tourists make the same mistake quite often.

Nice! I need to move to Englewood.

You know that Loveland, the town, and Loveland Pass are about an hour and a half away from each other right?

Ted Peterson

I'm sorry, but this list is incredibly superficial and just because a city has a hardware store does not make it "manly." And BTW, Loveland Pass is NOT Loveland, CO at all. Ever been to, say, Durango??
