Big photo, video below.
We don't usually think of TV news personalities as the sort of folks who shop for groceries just like the rest of us less telegenic people.

But Dianne Derby, an anchor at Colorado Springs' KKTV, isn't above stopping by the local grocery store to pick up some grub.

And she was rewarded for her visit to a King Soopers by being on hand to witness and report about a robbery try foiled by customers and a clerk. Details and video below.

Just after 1 p.m. yesterday, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers were dispatched to the King Soopers at 3250 Centennial Boulevard in the Springs due to what was described as a theft in progress.

When they arrived, they found a suspect subsequently identified as Joseph Grimmig, 27, under restraint.

Among those doing the restraining were several customers, as seen in the following photo shared by KKTV:

What happened? According to investigators, a clerk at the store opened the money drawer of the cash register -- not exactly an unusual happening. But in this case, Grimmig allegedly shoved the clerk aside, grabbed some cash and tried to split.

By the way, Grimmig is no pushover. His Facebook page features several photos of him wearing a military uniform, including this one....

...as well as numerous posts alluding to prior service.

Nonetheless, he proved no match for the clerk and nearby customers, who grabbed him, wrestled him to the floor and held him there until the cops took over. Grimmig was subsequently booked on suspicion of robbery.

Derby doesn't appear to have taken part in tackling Grimmig, but she was in the right place at the right time to get the story, with the KKTV report including cell phone video of a witness on the scene. Check it out below.

This is why the U$ Military has lost every war for the last 50+ years.

Soldiers can't even beat an unarmed grocery clerk.

Pathetic.
