Photos: The eleven Colorado cities expected to allow recreational marijuana sales

boulder.medical.marijuana.dispensary.205x205.jpg
Big photos below.
The prospect of recreational marijuana sales has produced a lot of political naysaying in the past month or so. On June 19, we counted 24 cities that had prohibited retail pot shops. Now, five weeks later, the Denver Post reports that the number has more than doubled, to 56 cities having voted for bans. The Post's list of cities that have either approved sales, or are expected to do so, is far smaller -- just eleven, almost all of which are medical marijuana-friendly. Count down the roster of communities that are likeliest to just say "yes" below, complete with pics, videos and links.

I'm with the Greatful

Dead Hemp Casket Company.

Burning bodies with mercury filling, dentures and medical implants is 100% completely insane. The amount of heavy metals from this burning  is turning our kids into total idiots.

WESTWORD REFUSES TO CARRY THE STORY

Interesting article.

I am the most successful cannabis campaign operative in Colorado. For example, the last 6 elections I have been involved in regarding muncipalites attempting to ban medicinal cannabis centers were victories in defeating the bans. I also ran a pro-64 issue committee called Vote Hemp Yes on 64 which targeted rural Coloradans with information and engaged conversations regarding hemp in Colorado.

It appears my associates and I are apparently creating almost as many new markets in Colorado that will sell recreational marijuana than are currently allowed. Interested in being part of this? Get in touch with me through my website mcvaneyltd com

I'm actually surprised Pueblo has a moratorium on the matter....

What a stupid and completely arbitrary "article" with zero substance! Staying on par I see, Westturd. Can I borrow one of your cubical monkeys, please? I need some bananas peeled and shit flung.

Just in case anyone reading is still concerned about the appropriate medical use of cannabis and the State's neutering of Article XVIII, Section 14 of the Constitution declaring that cannabis is a medicine, you should be aware that the Audit Committee spent a considerable amount of effort determining how to continue to marginalize medical cannabis.  The prohibitionists on the Committee secured at least partial agreement from both the CDPHE and DOR to prevent caregivers from being properly remunerated, force them to wipe patients' asses or take them shopping (i.e. saddle them with extraconstitutional duties having nothing to do with the provision of medicinal cannabis), and to prevent almost all recommendations of more than six plants for patients.  The DOR may intend to allow dispensaries unwilling or not (immediately) able to provide separate facilities for display and sales of cannabis for patients to stop serving patients and sell only to the general public, forcing patients to pay the various extortionate taxes proposed on recreational cannabis.  Demand that the DOR require that any dispensary wishing to sell recreational cannabis continue to serve patients without interruption!

So....some small mountain towns and Denver/Boulder, huh. And these places are already overrun with weed stores, meaning probably no space left for new stores. It guess we're not really creating any new business in Colorado, we're just going to extort more taxes from existing businesses, and allow them a potentially larger customer base, who we can then tax more. Are we really liberating the people and a plant, or are we liberating prejudice, unfair business practice, over taxation and government control?

Surprises they were not on the list...  Winter Park (or at least Granby), Buenie/Salida (come on, all those raft guides and kayakers), Breckenridge  and most of all, Steamboat.   I do have to give it to Manitou Springs though, way to know how to make a buck, especially around Christmas.  Trip to the North Pole and a chance to get a little something for your stocking as well.

Dear Westword,

Thank you for interesting, timely and local news and stories. But please have a heart and take a web usability class. A list of ELEVEN items spread over FIVE incredibly ad-ridden and slow loading pages??? Come on, I'm at Starbucks using the same wifi as 30 other people!! I'll begin your lesson now: Less clicks is better. The more one needs to click to get to your piece or to the end of your piece (slideshows, really?? In 2013?? Angelfire folded, folks...) the better the chances are that they won't bother. Please and thank you!!!!!!!

"56 cities having voted for bans" ... REGULATION WORKS!, bitches!!

Good thing that the Lyin' Liars and Clueless Stoners who wrote and supported that festering turd A64 EXPLICITLY ALLOWED every city and county in Colorado the power to COMPLETELY BAN ALL commercial marijuana activities in their jurisdictions!!

Fucking Brilliant !!

So the city of Brighton stated in a city council meeting "we don't want that kind of element here".....LMAO Apparently they have never looked around their own town, and would prefer to keep the black market thriving.

56 cities.  Well gosh dang Michael, then why did you go out of your way, just yesterday, to identify only Colorado Springs?  And did you see all the brain-dead toadies that went down the same path.  Michael, here's your word of the day:  can you say hypocrite?

@RobertChase "to prevent caregivers from being properly remunerated [sic] "

Wrong legal term, and it is also inappropriately used in A64.

WTF are you even talking about? Just because the Westword reported on one city's ban one day and not all the others in the same story that makes them hypocrites? What?

@dubyaTeff @fishingblues   Well W, as a matter of fact I did do quite well.  At least the nuns were impressed.  Not sure what HS English has to do with anything.  But, I see your problem.  When you are to stupid to even recognize your own stupidity, it is difficult appreciating the brilliance in others.   Crawl back in your hole, putz.

Nope, 12 years ago came out from Detroit, Michigan. If you actually read the definition of 'carpetbagger', you'll see it doesn't Fit Me on any level. I've paid my volunteer dues for many years, advocating for hundreds, in person, paying forward ALL the AMAZING ADVENTURES I have been Blessed with here in Colorado. Sorry, I have NO millionaire visions of being a 1%'r, But I WILL continue to speak for the 99 per cent! END PROHIBITION NOW! FREE OUR FAILED DRUG WAR PRISONERS!

If Those Be "Carpetbagger" comments, Then I'm NO BUD PIRATE!

I imagine you're not much of a Drinker DonkeyHotay, so my Directed comment was for another. I didn't KNOW 'Lobbying' was done "with a Bottle", until I met this piece of work. Couldn't make a Fortune Globbing Onto the Medical Industry, so over To Hemp, once again, proves a Carpetbagger in reality. Our state continues to attract these types, wonder why? @RobertChase ... only a retard like you would attempt to cite the OED for a LEGAL definition.

In U$ law, "remuneration" is the entire compensation package of a salaried employee, including wages, bonuses, stock options, health insurance, profit sharing, company vehicles, etc. etc.

It's the absurdly WRONG term in the context of its use by the legal imbeciles who drafted A64.
