Ten things the Denver Broncos won't let you bring to Sports Authority Field this year

The Denver Broncos sold out most of their remaining single-game tickets this week in an annual summertime tradition, but fans who head to Sports Authority Field may be in for a few rude surprises at the gate (and we're not talking about Raiders fans). The team adopted a new security policy this year -- one that the NFL is encouraging all of its teams to implement. It essentially keeps guests from carrying any kind of bag at all. That means you'll need to Velcro your hats, gloves, scarves, extra jackets, sandwiches, blankets, cardboard signs, water bottles and foam fingers to your body.

In other words, the terrorists have won at Mile High.

Extra security is going to a pain in the ass this year.
"Fans will continue to be able to enjoy their tailgate activities in the parking lots and to do so with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster," the team said in a June statement on the issue. "This new public safety measure is being successfully used at other large venues. The University of Michigan, Penn State University and Michigan State University do not permit any bags while the TD Garden in Boston only permits clutch bags."

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

mary-poppins-purse.jpg
10) Purses larger than a clutch bag.

9) Coolers.

8) Briefcases.

7) Backpacks of any kind.

6) Fanny packs (dammit!).

That is such BS!!! I am a big fan. But it sounds to me like the NFL is yet again looking for a way to make MORE money off of us. After reading their 2013 Stadium bag policy on their website, they really danced around one question; Will teams be making money from selling team identified bags to fans? There are a variety of options, including a clear 12” by 6” by 12” bag with no commercial identification or an inexpensive Ziploc bag. In addition, fans may carry their own small clutches. For fans who wish to purchase team logo bags, they will be available. Sounds like the question was dodged. Who really benefits from this? The NFL and the Vendors in the stadium? It sounds like BS to me. BOOOO NFL!!!!

Saying for security reasons is only a front for increasing beer & concession sales and trash cleanup savings. They are doing anything they can to raise money to pay for salaries. I will only watch for as long is it on free television. Once I have to pay, I won't pay any attention to the sport.

Then no one would have attended the ravens playoff game! It was way too cold to not bring a bag full of blankets, scarves and seat cushions

Its not about safety, that's a simple lie.  Its to protect the monopoly of the concessions.

Right....or safety from their drunk-driving executives.

People complain about the GOVT. taking away their rights. How about scanner, body checks, and the high prices charged for everything at the event? Next your license plate will be scanned so they know where you park and for how long. Everytime PEOPLE allow this type of "security" they give up more rights. Do you think the stadium workers etc. go through the same security checks as the public? Who would have a greater chance of doing harm?

The no camera bag is a joke. Guess I won't be taken my good camera with zoom lenses to the games this year. How about safety from the players. Seems like they are the ones murdering people these days.

Maybe sports fans should boycott instead of going along with it like the 'over consuming corpo-brainwashed sheeple' that you are.

Are we allowed to show up drunk like their top executives?

Imagine that, a stupid sport just became more stupid.

Going to a game is now closely mirroring the antics of airport security. Clearly my handbag and chair cushion is a threat to everyone in the stadium. It's the illusion of safety, not actual safety. Next we will have to shuffle into the stadium in single files lines, barefoot & through body scanners.

No, I think that's okay as long as you are in a designated smoking area.

@milehin8tvbear Didn't you mean to say:  "A stupid person commenting on a sport appears even more stupid"?

@Shelia Canfield-Jones  Concealed weapon permit holders are very law abiding.  Quite the contrast with Bronco's players and management.

@fishingblues  Again, I'm not, nor have I ever been, Nimrod, builder of the Tower of Babel.  You do, however, my dimwitted commoner, have my permission to bow down and clean my scepter with your knob polisher.
