Most burglars steal things based on their resale value -- what they can get in the underground market. But a chosen few swipe items for more personal reasons.

Joey Gallegos appears to fit in the latter category.

He's been arrested and charged for snatching more than 350 pieces of women's clothing -- most of them underwear.

Get the creepy details below.

According to the Greeley Police Department, Gallegos, 39, is suspected of grabbing unmentionables from the laundry room at an apartment complex on the 1800 block of 30th Street in Greeley.

The cops say two women reported missing clothing, and Gallegos was ID'd as a suspect and arrested, after which he's said to have given investigators the stuff in question.

But that wasn't the end of the case. The cops subsequently requested and received a search warrant for Gallegos's apartment, and inside, they found a virtual lingerie store -- more than 350 pieces of women's clothing, the majority of them undergarments.

Police feel, reasonably enough, that Gallegos didn't purchase this booty at his neighborhood Victoria's Secret. Rather, they believe most if not all the the underwear was stolen from women who might not have realized it was missing -- assuming, perhaps, that the dryers ate their panties as they seem to do with random socks -- or didn't report that they'd been stolen.

On top of everything else, Gallegos, who lived in an apartment building on the 1700 block of 30th, has reportedly been linked to two burglaries in the same apartment complex: He seemingly likes to work close to home. Hence, he was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary and theft charges.

GPD types figure there remain an unknown number of victims in the case, and they're encouraging anyone who may be missing items to contact Detective Matt Walsh at 970-350-9549. The cops are hoping to identify as many of the stolen goods as possible.

Although it's unlikely anyone would want to wear it again. Here's a look at Gallegos's booking photo.
