Moments ago, at the order of Senior District Judge J. Robert Lowenbach, 1999 grand jury documents accusing John and Patsy Ramsey of criminal conduct in the death three years earlier of their six-year-old daughter, JonBenet, were made public.

The pages were released as the result of a lawsuit filed by Boulder Daily Camera reporter Charlie Brennan and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. There are two indictments of each parent, including child abuse resulting in death.

No action was taken in regard to the indictments: As noted in the Daily Camera's coverage, Boulder District Attorney Alex Hunter declined to sign them and subsequently announced that he wouldn't file any charges owing to what he described as a lack of evidence.

The pair of two-page documents obtained by the Camera are identical with the exception of the names. Count IV (a) for Patsy (who died of cancer in 2006) reads:
On or between December 25, and December 26, 1996, in Boulder County, Colorado, Patricia Paugh Ramsey did unlawfully, knowingly, recklessly and feloniously permit a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation which posed a threat of injury to the child's life or health, which resulted in the death of JonBenet Ramsey, a child under the age of sixteen.
The count: child abuse resulting in death.

The second charge, listed as Count VII, involves acting as an accessory. Here's how the one pertaining to John reads:

On or about December 25, and December 26, 1996 in Boulder County, Coloraado, John Benett Ramsey did unlawfully, knowingly and feloniously render assistance to a person, with intent to hinder, delay and prevent the discovery, detention, apprehension, prosecution, conviction and punishment of such person for the commission of a crime, knowing the person being assisted has committed and was suspected of the crime of Murder in the First Degree and Child Abuse Resulting in Death.

Patsy + John = "a small foreign faction"

Lies, murder, greed, money, coverups, bribes, etc…..if it was my child I would want to know who did it. Jon Bennet deserves Justice.

The parents did DNA, but their son didn't, but it doesn't matter because you can "buy" DNA results….this whole thing was bought and paid for.

You must lead a boring life to even comment on what you describe as a "boring" news day.

I am so over this I just CANNOT care. The mother is dead and the father has moved on in his life. I really hope the reopening of this case does not become the wall to wall news story that it was back in the mid-90's.

Accusations of child abuse is easy but proof of such is extremely difficult . So far evidence of a conclusive nature is that DNA shows an unknown male as JonBenét's killer. All other evidence, from what I have read , is speculation and non-conclusive.

Because no one could figure out how to prove it. Next silly question?

But they are rich and white. They couldn't have done it. (sarcasm)

It's called a botched police investigation. Sadly, I've seen my share. The incompetent get promoteed (kinda like our govt) and allow the cycle to contuine. Drove me nuts. Then add States attorneys and their ASA's have learned to pad their win versus losss by refusing to take cases that take real skill and hardwork work to win. It's all about those wins after all. Hell some refuse cases just becaus it will require actual hard work. It's a disgrace wages become of our criminal justice system. That family was F'd in the head and manipulated the system. Cash does wonderful things for the evil rich.

Damn right it was mom and dad, or at least they know who did it. Not even the most incompetent killer/kidnapper would stay in the house to write a ransom note (and a practice one before) after they killed the kid.

Oh please--they say nothing more than we already knew. The prosecutor knew there wasn't enough evidence to make a viable case. Most experts since them have stuck by the opinion that it was an intruder.
