Marijuana Inventory Tracking system video tries to reassure worried industry

Video below.
We wrote about worries over Franwell seed-to-sale technology intended for use in the Colorado MMJ industry way back in 2011. Two years later, with the Marijuana Inventory Tracking system (MITs) finally going on line, the worries aren't over, with at least one advocate raising concerns about an alleged lack of security at the mymits.com site. But a new video tries to counter such anxiety: It features the Marijuana Enforcement Division's Julie Postlethwait offering reassurances against a musical backdrop reminiscent of a lullaby. Check out the very odd clip below.

Maybe we should be monitoring Julie's purchases. Bet she buys products we wouldn't.

Security concerns are secondary: everyone knows the CDPHE registry is totally compromised and they will not fix it: the douchenozzles who run the show think it is a way to scare people away. The real issue with the tracking system is its complete impossibility -- it will not work, ever. You can't track a plant you can clone, fer chrissakes. Idiots. You just spend millions of dollars on a system that will never, ever be effective.

The real problem here is the complete and utter incompetence of the CDPHE and the DOR: both of which are complete failures in every way. The CDPHE can't even manage to keep their own blood labs in working order, let alone run a confidential state registry for MMJ patients. The DOR has wasted millions of taxpayer dollars for nothing (ok, maybe a few shiny new SUVS) and has made a laughingstock of themselves over and over again. Add into the mix the incompetence and idiocy of the Denver mayor and City Council and the whole thing is just a festival of asshattery.

I hate to say it, but in some ways Doneky Hotay/Stuka/McShyster is absolutely correct: these people are pot clowns totally incapable of intelligence and reason. And they run the show.

on day one industry owners have already found a security glitch in the MITS system: this 1/2 assed System to track and regulate cannabis isnt even on line yet, and we already have a major security breach in the website to set up owners to take the classes to learn to use the incomplete system (RFID tags not yet ready).  Not only is the website not secured, in and of that anybody can use it even if they are not in the CO cannabis industry in any way shape or form... BUT once you enter a publically available license number (or it could be found on any packaging in the trash, or on many industry websites), if you enter any random badge number into the system (that turns out to be a valid badge) that badge holders full name automatically is filled in... giving persons with no business or right to know access to the name of virually every person who has ever been badged by MMED in the state of Colorado... The program lets you play with those numbers for hours, it never kicks a user off, or questions why they are mining the data, which would have  been an easy thing to build into the program.  FEDs & LEOs can be playing with the system right now, so can identity theives... MED/FRANWELL you are all completely INCOMPETENT. A64 supporters you've all fucked the cannabis world beyond words...

That's not private information.

There is nothing in A64 about tracking.

"every person who has ever been badged by MMED" - a.k.a. every CRIMINAL who knowingly and willfully and deliberately engaged in the continuing violation of Federal felony drug laws for their own personal pecuniary gain.

@stuka1 There is nothing in A64 that prohibits tracking. The cops will take whatever hole you give them, and they have done just that.

So which is it? Are individual pot sellers criminals or downtrodden capitalists like you imply?

"...every CRIMINAL who knowingly and willfully and deliberately engaged in the continuing violation of Federal felony drug laws for their own personal pecuniary gain."

So, how is that any different from the pecuniary gain of all the "black market" dealers you so blatantly support in your posts?

(HipTip: it's not.)

You really need to get off your self-righteous, hypocritical high horse and admit you're a conservative asshole who fears change.

@McShyster  A64 doesn't say "STRICTLY regulate", clueless fucktard.

@JDGM <= clueless fucktard.

There is nothing that prevents LAW ENFORCEMENT from collecting said information, especially with their A64 MANDATE to STRICTLY REGULATE the pot industry, i.e. the pathetic 1 (one) ounce sale/possession limit, and the various proposals to further restrict "non-resident" sale limits.
