A number of high-profile crime reports have emanated from the CU-Boulder campus over the past couple of months. By comparison, the main Colorado State University complex in Fort Collins has been relatively quiet.

No more. Late last night, a woman reported being sexually assaulted at knifepoint on a CSU athletic track.
Get details and see a video about the disturbing matter below.
At about 10 p.m. last night, according to a CSU public-safety alert sent to students, faculty and staff, a woman said she was sexually assaulted near the Jack Christiansen track, located west of College Avenue and north of Pitkin Street in Fort Collins.
The scene of the crime.
The woman told officers she was walking on the track when what's described as a "large male wearing a black ski mask and a brown or tan Carhartt-style jacket, work boots and Levis, armed with a knife, attacked her from behind."
Afterward, the man is said to have run east toward College Avenue.
Beyond that, the CSU police are keeping mum at this writing. As noted by the Fort Collins Coloradoan, which captured footage from the scene shortly after the report, spokespersons have not yet revealed whether the woman was a CSU student. However, the paper points out that officers on the scene taped off an area about 100 feet north of the track and also searched a nearby vehicle -- a silver SUV seen in the image above
Anyone with information about the reported assault is encouraged to contact the CSUPD at 970-491-6425. Here's a Coloradoan video about incident.
