"We have received quite a few inquiries about this, and NO, US 36 is NOT open to through traffic of any kind!" declares a post on the Colorado Department of Transportation Facebook page -- and newly shared photos of repair work on the stretch of the highway between Lyons and Estes Park shows why. The damage is epic and the challenge before repair workers to get the job done by the December 1 goal is just as big. Look below to see shots that vividly convey the size of the task at hand.
