Big photos below.
Is this a real gun -- meaning one that fires the sort of bullets that are capable of killing someone? The Denver Police Department recently posted this photo and seven others on its Facebook page along with the headline question, "CAN YOU TELL WHICH GUNS ARE REAL AND WHICH ARE FAKE?"

Look below to see each of the photos. Then, on the last page, we reveal the answers, as well as the reasons the DPD put together this quiz in the first place.

Here are the first four:

Regardless if it is an airsoft or a daisy spring action bb gun. They ALL look real unless you are staring down the barrel at a pretty close range. Sure cops can be trigger happy but lets not get stupid. If someone older than 12 acts like its real and refuses to put it down or respond he's gonna catch a bullet.

OH, look, the DPD is pandering more propaganda in an attempt to influence the political process. Because that's their job, yanno?

All are fake. The problem is some politicians would rather more and more people losing an eye with increasing results over letting us keep real firearms that keep things like this from happening

I knew they were all fake. And also look at the plastic trigger.

Then the butthurt Libertarian DWEEBS would complain about "excessive" regulation of toy manufacturers.

A person merely having a gun visible is not enough information to determine if the person is a good guy or a bad guy.  Before a person can be treated as a bad guy, that person must show intent to harm either by voice or action.  So, much care needs to be taken on both sides.  The citizen with a gun, especially if he is on his own property/home, needs to also have a reason to believe that the person that is entering his house is indeed a police officer and not a criminal that is claiming to be police.  There is no justification for either party to shoot until opportunity, ability and intent is shown.

As far as the DPD goes, the correct answer is "it doesn't matter."

If you carry anything that even resembles a gun, expect to take a bullet (more likely, a fusillade of bullets) as a consequence.

SO STOP LETTING THE TOY COMPANIES MAKE GUNS LOOK REAL. Problem solved

We have a right to be armed in this society It is a right that one is born with not one that is 'granted' by armed servants of our government. During Katrina, they dis-armed the public and left them to the 'wolves' that were prowling around robbing, looting and killing. They did this for 'officer safety'....In the current scope of police training the citizen is viewed as the 'enemy' and the officer in a constant state of 'war' with this enemy.....Pretty sad state of affairs we have allowed ourselves to tolerate....

Being a cop is NOT a job for piss-pant spineless cowards, it they can't handle the stress and "danger" o being a PUBLIC SERVANT, then they can find a job as a crab fisherman in Alaska.

@RustyShackleford Maybe you aren't aware but in the united states the citizens have the right to bear arms unless convicted of a felony or is breaking the law at that moment. A police officer by law cannot stop a person carrying a gun just because they have one on them. unless that person is showing that they have the intent to harm others or are a known felon it is no ones business. A police officer also may not seize the weapon without first having either of those reasons. I can walk through town with a loaded gun on my side and as long as I do not threaten others or am a felon I have the right to do so. Your comment saying that the the person doing so will be shot is clearly proof that you are ignorant and think just because it is a police officer they can just go around doing whatever they please. Police aren't above the law and have to abide by the second amendment.

@Diane Smith Blair I agree they should put some mark on them showing that they are toys.

Yup, #2 is a pneumatic pellet/BB gun. #3 appears to be a pellet gun as well.  That's stupid.

@skateboyusa99 ... where in the Second Amendment does it exclude Felons?

Be specific.

Also note that due to obsequious sycophants like you and the NRA cowards who readily abrogate other citizens' right to keep and bear arms, the government has extended the exclusion and denial of gun rights to 100s of thousands if MISDEMEANOR offenders, and even those innocent and not yet convicted of any crime.

Reap what ye sow, traitor.
