John Snorsky's friends insist accused Aurora child kidnapper is innocent

Big photos, videos below.
Late last month, we wrote about a sweeping police search for the man accused of pulling an eight-year-old girl through the window of her Aurora bedroom; see our previous coverage below. Now, police believe they've got their man: John Snorsky, 26, a fledgling artist photographed in zombie makeup by Westword shortly before his arrest on an unrelated parole violation. Yet even as more information comes out about his past brushes with the law, a surprising number of his friends are proclaiming his innocence online. Photos, video and details below.

At about 12:15 a.m. on October 28, as we've reported, cops were dispatched to a home on the 1600 block of Hanover Street.

The house where the incident took place.
There, officers believe, a man removed a screen and opened an unlocked window of a bedroom occupied by an eight-year-old girl. He's then thought to have reached inside, grabbed the girl and pulled her into the alley behind the structure.

At that point, the girl screamed, alerting her father. He's said to have run out of the residence just as his daughter was sprinting back to the house -- and in the alley, he saw a man drive away in what was originally described as a silver or gray BMW, but is now believed to be a Mercedes pictured on Snorsky's Facebook page:

Aurora police subsequently held a news conference to announce a $10,000 reward in the case -- the largest ever offered by that department. Then, in succeeding days, that dollar amount was doubled to $20,000. Turns out, though, that Snorsky was already in custody for a parole hold based on what 7News describes as a false report on a pawn broker.

Snorsky's Facebook page is filled with beefcake images of himself, including this one....

In addition, there are plenty of shots featuring his artwork, including several by Sampson Leung Photography of an event at Casselman's called "Satan's Castle" late last year. Here's one screen capture....

There's even a link to a Westword slide show of a zombie-crawl party, with Snorsky seen in a eerie image by photographer Eric Gruneisen:

The zombie photo was shared on October 26 -- the last one placed by Snorsky prior to his arrest. Since then, however, quite a few posts have popped up, many from friends insisting that he couldn't have committed the crimes of which he's been accused.

Continue for more about the arrest of John Snorsky, including more photos and a video.

It seems like this guy has a history of taking possessions not people.

More than likely the police are working with circumstantial evidence. Otherwise there would be more concrete facts linking this man to the crime in question.

I am seeing several posts about DNA evidence, but have not read anything from a credible news source or even a published article......

Hmmm.........

Met him a few times at Casselmans.  Seemed very egotistical.  Not sure what to think

What sound does a russian or polish man make in deep sleep?

They just linked his DNA to the child's clothes. Duh.

Until we know all the facts, this guy could be innocent.

But he could also be a sociopath... presumably not as bad of a sociopath as Ted Bundy was, but both men looked like everyday attractive people on the exterior.  But both men believed that they were better than everyone else, very narcissistic (e.g. Snorsky likes to paint and draw nude self-portraits of himself), and both men truly think that they can fool the authorities and beat the system with their lies.  Snorsky claims that he only wanted to burglarize the house and not take the little girl.  But he grabbed the girl; he did not grab jewelry, money, electronics from the house.  And if a child inside a house starts crying and screaming, a burglar would tend to run away instead of grabbing for the child.

Even if he is innocent, the media and the public will destroy his life!

I have one question after skimming through this, so I might have missed something. How would he know that there was an eight year old girl in that bedroom close enough to the window that he could just reach in and take her?

This is why Westword sucks. This article is all hyperbole and made up drama - based off one individuals life. Ohhh Satan painting... Scary. Must be a molester, right? Wrong. Wait and see. Let the actual evidence be presented and stop convicting people for ratings or page views. Idiots.

Looks pretty harmless to me, but looks can be deceiving.

@Carlena Martinez He admitted to trying to kidnap the girl.  How could that be "innocent", moron?

AURORA, Colo.—An 8-year-old Aurora girl escaped a man accused of trying to kidnap her from her bedroom by pinching him and running away, according to a police affidavit released Monday.

The affidavit also said DNA found on the girl's clothing matched that of John Stanley Snorsky, 26, who was arrested in connection with the Oct. 28 abduction attempt.
