We've all had days where it seemed as if everyone was out to get us -- but they generally haven't ended with us behind bars.

Unfortunately for 47-year-old Charles Cline, his did. But there were extenuating circumstances. Not only was he allegedly fearful that the area was under attack by demons and robots, but when a sergeant with the local PD tried to calm him down, he's said to have decided the cop was the devil and punched him in the face. The strange details below.

The report come to us from the Colorado Springs police blotter, which currently features a number of strange listings -- like, for instance, the story of two men who made the mistake of attacking a guy working on his car with a screwdriver in his hand; their target did enough damage with the tool that one Ryan M. Carter was later arrested after seeking treatment at an area hospital.

Still, the other entries pale in comparison to the one about an incident that took place at around 9:18 p.m. on December 13 near the intersection of East San Miguel and North Nevada Avenue, an area captured in the following interactive graphic. Officers were dispatched to the location on a report that a man, later identified as Cline, was standing in the street screaming about "demons and robots" -- and their arrival didn't exactly calm him down.

Rather, Cline is said to have loudly accused the cops of also being demons, as well as "half-breeds" and "not human."

At that point, the officers decided that maybe it was a good idea to call a supervisor to the scene -- but what happened next may not endear them to their boss next time they're seeking a promotion.

Why not? After the sergeant showed up, Cline allegedly accused him of being the devil -- and then struck him in the face with a closed fist.

Other than the sort of pain we associate with being slugged, the sergeant was uninjured -- but being understandably reluctant to give Cline another shot at him, he and the officers quickly took the man into custody.

Cline was subsequently transported to an area hospital, where he received what's termed "medical clearance" to be booked into El Paso County Jail.

Let's hope the residents of that facility were notably less satanic.

I'm assuming this guy was white or else this would've had a very different ending.
