Big photos below.
Online, Highlands Ranch's Erin Giberti comes across as chipper and upbeat -- an energetic real estate agent for Re/Max and a loving mom of two kids whose praises she sings on Facebook and Pinterest. But earlier this month, something went terribly wrong.

Gibert was found unconscious inside a car that had been left running in her garage -- and while her children were outside, authorities now believe they had previously been in the vehicle with her, leading to her arrest for attempted murder. Details below.

Here's Giberti's mini-bio on the Re/Max Masters website:

I am proud to be a Denver Native! I go above and beyond for my clients with not a single detail overlooked. I am passionate about what I do and your needs are my priority weather you are buying selling or investing. My goal is to make sure you have the best experience possible. I have unique skills which include a history in lending and insurance. I have successfully and happily been in the Real Estate industry for over 10 years and have been in sales throughout my entire career. I work in all price ranges and in all parts of the Metro Area. The latest technology and communication are key. Aggressive negotiating and a high level of professionalism are paramount in my business philosophy.
Numerous real estate-related posts also appear on her Facebook page, including one from August featuring recent housing inventory figures -- and in June, she also shared a photo of her with Dave Liniger, Re/Max's founder and subject of "The Final Frontier," a 1998 Westword profile about his quest to fly around the world in a balloon:

erin.giberti.dave.liniger.jpg
The text accompanying the photo reads: "Such a treat to spend time with a man with such a great mind! I had the pleasure of chatting with Dave Liniger Co-Founder and Chairman of RE/MAX International on his 60 minutes show yesterday. Stay tuned...."

There are also a great many photos of Giberti's two adorable children, plus a number of graphics featuring inspirational sayings, including this one....

erin.giberti.graphic.jpg
...and this one:

erin.giberti.graphic.2.jpg
Her most recent Facebook post dates to early October. "Going through flash cards with" one of her sons, she wrote. "He's 4 years old. Came to letter D and there is a dog and a duck on the card." She then quotes him as saying, "D is for dog and Quack!!!!" before adding, "Lol so cute."

The disconnect between the image presented by this material and what happened early last week couldn't be more stark.

IoWhere is our compassion for this family? Arrests are public record but all these details like a picture of her house and where she works did not need to be thrown out there like yesterdays trash. I hope her children are safe and get whatever help they may need. Just living with someone in her mental state has bound to had some effect on them. Hopefully she will get the help she needs also so that she can be the mother her children need. Have a heart people! To be in a place so dark that you want to take your own life is a horrible place to be. Pray for this family! If you know them reach

out to them. If you don't, there could be someone close to you who is suffering. We never know what others are going through. Walk a mile in their shoes.

*** Another "Law Abiding Gun Owner" ... kills his OWN DAUGHTER! ***

A 14-year-old girl mistaken for a burglar was fatally shot by her stepfather Monday at their residence in northeast Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs police said.

According to a statement from police spokesman Larry Herbert, the shooting happened just before 6 a.m. on the 4000 block of Ascendant Drive, off North Carefree Circle and Peterson Road.

"The initial call came in as a burglary-in-progress," Herbert said.

The girl was taken to an area hospital where she died of gunshot wounds.

Behold the DEPRAVED COWARDICE of the trigger-happy Gun-Tards who are so spineless and scared of their own shadow that they would shoot a 14 year old girl simply because she was in their house.

Hey Gun-tard Daddy -- did you feel cool, tough and heroic as you played out your "Make My Day" fantasy ... on your own teenage daughter ?!!!

Merry Fucking Christmas you gutless gun cowards!!

I would like to think that this is just a misunderstanding, but I will probably never know all of the facts...

You, sir, sound like a pathetic tabloid writer. This piece of writing is the worst I have ever seen produced. Save yourself some time and energy and go back to flipping burgers. I'm sure you would be much better dealing with over-processed meat on a daily basis. It would be better to save some space for ethical writers.

Excuse me for being harsh, but I am simply reporting how I feel about this man's reporting and writing style, just as he seems to be reporting to you all who this woman is, which is a lie. The production of this story is taking your fellow man and kicking them in the stomach when they are already bleeding out.

Anyone who is going through this degree of psychological trauma doesn't need some slime ball, wanna-be "journalist" poisoning the minds of the public.

I hope anyone who feels they can judge this woman remembers several points in their lives when they made horrible mistakes, and imagine those mistakes being broadcasted to the world, made known by a BLOGGER who doesn't have any other reliable sources aside from the mug shots from a public website and a Facebook profile.

The common thread here would be giving the people who need it access to mental health support and helping single parents navigate a difficult parenting situation.... I hope her children are safe and her ex husband gets her and the kids some help.

The woman was obviously in serious pain. This article and even comments are totally without compassion. She did not throw her kids in boiling water, she tried to kill herself, realized she could not take her kids with her and took them out of the garage...and was in such depression she went back to finish the job. Just pray you never hit such a low point that you attempt this.

Editorial Tip for Stoner Reporters at Wasteword --

Realtor® is a Trademark of the NAR, and as such should be capitalized and symbolically marked in the headline and story.

Realtor® refers to real estate agents and brokers who are members of the NAR. Not all real estate agents are Realtors® as membership is not required by law.

Hope that helps.

How could something like this happen when she seemed so happy and well-balanced in her Facebook posts? Oh, what a world!

I can't read the whole story on my phone. Every time I try and click next or page 2 it opens up google maps. Any chance you can fix this? It's not the first time it's happened while trying to read a story.

She needs a shrink.

This is an obvious mental health issue.

As a society, what will we gain if we just lock her away in prison for 40 years?

Corrected Headline: American Dream meets Uncomfortable Reality

Guess all the phony tail-wagging-dog media hype about a real estate recovery didn't come true. The U$A is still suffering from the G. W. Bu$h regime's worst economic disaster since the great depression.

Nonya123, the only subjective line in the story describes Giberti as 'chipper and upbeat.' Everything else is a fact. How exactly is this kicking someone who is "bleeding out"?

@Nonya123  "I hope anyone who feels they can judge this woman remembers several points in their lives when they made horrible mistakes"

Fortunately the "horrible mistakes" most people make don't involve attempting to KILL INNOCENT CHILDREN !!

Hope that helps.

@davebarnes ... she's white, upper class Realtor from Highlands Ranch ... she won't see anywhere near the decades in prison that poor mentally unbalanced minority mothers get when they resort to filicide.

@DonkeyHotay       For a half-way intelligent person donk, you certainly have your head up your ass relative to the US economy.

Why don't you listen to someone much smarter than you sometime?  If you did, you might  climb beyond 'half-way'.

@DonkeyHotay @fishingblues Stop that, Donkey! My baby may be a Vietnam Draft Dodger, a pathetic, impotent, wannabe cyber bully, and a loudmouth internet tough guy, but you cannot call him "retarded"...

So there.

DonkeyHotay

@davebarnes   ... the internet has decimated and nearly destroyed the choke-hold that Realtors® once had on the market with their previously exclusive and tightly guarded MLS, much the way Craigslist has destroyed the classified cash cow that print newspapers used to enjoy.

The last decade also created a more sophisticated and educated home-buying/owing public who quickly realized that coughing up the old standard and protected 7% commission to a parasitic sales agent -- who had no financial stake nor equity in the asset -- for each and every turn of the property was not only a massive waste of $$, but also contributed to the housing price bubble itself -- the same property turning just 4x would reflect 31% in inflated pricing just to cover the cumulative agent commissions. [ 7% compounded 4x].

31% price inflation due to agent fees with ZERO value-added -- same property, same location, no capital improvements. The parasitic NAR is as responsible for the housing bubble and subseuent collapse as the mortgage bankers on Wall Street.

Being that RE Agents can NOT, by law, provide any LEGAL or ACCOUNTING advice to their clients -- not that they were qualified anyway -- renders them nothing more than glorified taxi drivers taking people from house to house for showings, and filling in a few blanks on pro-forma contracts. Their work load was the same whether it was a $50k condo or a $500k house, so there is/was absolutely NO SANE REASON for their fee to be $3500 on one, and $35,000.00! on the other.

It's actually far less expensive to hire a licensed Attorney who specializes in Real Estate -- even at $350 / hour -- who can and must protect his client's best financial interests, unlike the passive unskilled parasites that are real estate agents.

So while there may be a slight up-tic in units sold in the Denver metro market, far fewer buyers and sellers these days are naive enough to waste their hard earned equity -- or lose more neg-equity -- on such overpriced full commission Realtors®  such as those employed by Re/Max.

Like Avon, the current RE industry makes fortunes hyping the industry itself to millions of housewives nationwide as a prospective "career" option -- with expensive licensing classes, makeovers for the vanity shots, self-improvement, wardrobe makeovers, motivational seminars and sales classes -- see the typical "inspirational" graphics above.

When the excitement of the sizzle and hype of potential riches from their new-found career -- which they spent thousands of $$ on for training, licensing, makeovers, seminars, etc. -- meets the reality of the brutal market, many -- if not most-- starry-eyed housewives implode and fail within their first year in the business.

Given the industry's superficial choice to use vanity photos of the agents as the primary marketing and advertising tool -- often times their laughably outdated glamour-shots are larger than the pics of the property being sold -- as those agents get older and begin to show signs of age -- especially the women -- they suddenly find all the new business going to the younger, prettier, fresh-faced muffins in the office.

It reminds me of Ellen Burstyn's character in Requiem for a Dream ... it's the perfect movie for the holiday season.

..Matt...
..Matt...

Much of that raw volume is from lenders and trustees selling their REOs directly, sans normal commissions.

Flat rate fees are the new norm.

I see that the table says ZERO.

The graphs show 4%.

Weird.

My own charts show NEGATIVE in real dollars, but no one wants to talk about that. Everyone focuses on nominal dollars.

http://3968vrain.com/English/Denver/CaseShiller_Prices.html

My comment was not about C-S index. It was about agents making money as the absolute sales volume is up a lot from the trough. I was trying to imply that Erin should not have had money problems.
