As our Melanie Asmar reported, Aurora suffered two homicides over a three-day period in late December -- one outside the Rack 'Em Billiards and Sports Bar on Christmas Eve, the other near the Aurora Hills Golf Course.

Now, there's been another one, with the victim being found in the parking lot of an East 1st Avenue apartment complex.

At this writing, the case remains wide open. See photos, a video and details below.

A look at the crime scene courtesy of CBS4.
At approximately 12:27 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, according to the Aurora Police Department, the dispatch office received a 911 call about a shooting at an apartment complex on the 14200 block of East 1st Avenue.

Moments later, officers arrived on the scene to find an adult male in the parking lot. He'd been shot.

The man was immediately transported to an area hospital, but he failed to respond to treatment. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

That's all we know thus far. The APD has yet to release additional info about the identity of the victim, possible suspects or the circumstances that may have led to the trigger being pulled.

APD spokesman Office Frank Fania tells us there have been no new developments in the case since the initial reports as of this writing. In the meantime, if you know anything about what went down early Saturday morning, you're encouraged to phone Aurora Police Detective Warren Miller at 303-739-6117 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered.

@ Dani Ball, well ain't ya? Lol, don't lie! You're as white as they come! And if you're scared of aurora then the only conclusions are... either your scared of people of color or you don't know your facts, I am sure it's a lot of both! So take your horrible J.Lo references and shove them up your up tight "back pocket" @ Rian take your ghetto hating ass back to Breckenridge or whatever the Fuck you hang, but don't go to Chicago or Atlanta or even Los Angeles, because there you will find REAL ghettos, and they would love a sweet piece like you, then come back here and tell me about some ghettos, you ignorant sheltered ski town bitch! And stay the Fuck out my town!

Who says my family and neighborhood are "white"? That's rather racist, to assume, wouldn't you say? You are just poor trash. Take your "Jenny from the block" attitude and keep it in your back pocket! :-) Night night, sweet boy.

I bet a lot doesn't make sense to you , right Dani? That's the best news I've heard all day Dani Ball, please stay in what ever fucked up sterile "white" neighborhood you live in, and out of the way of real hard working communities. I'm sure Sterling understands.

Aaron E. O'Doyle-Rulez...you've rendered me speechless...mostly because none of what you said made ANY sense. Enjoy Aurora, dear. I'll enjoy the peace in my neighborhood.

Don't mind Lard Ass who can only "rule" his parent's basement. It's no wonder he never seen any crime in his 'hood. He never leaves the house. LuLz.

Neither is anywhere nearly as dangerous as some other notable metropolitan areas such as some highly touted (but utterly disappointing) cities in Tex-ASS, New YAWK, and Kah-lee-four-nya by many whiny, uppity, dickhead transplants.

Yeah? Then why do live in Denver? But I'm willing to bet you never seen a real ghetto, because they're aren't any in Colorado dipshit!

@ Priya& Dani Ball Been living in Aurora for 36 years, never been robbed, never been shot at, never even seen a dead body, all of these things have happened to me in Denver.... So by "here" I mean not a place for weak minded yuppy/hipsters looking for a nice place to breed more ilk. This is a town mostly of hard working blue coller families. A town of military families, its diverse, some times it's a little dirty, and it's the 3rd largest city in the state. Not some lil suburb to the west. Where the biggest crimes are meth labs and pedophilia.

I agree. Corey doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that there ARE areas in large cities where the crime is much less prevalent than other areas in that same city. Thanks, and stay safe!

2010 FBI stats rated Aurora 15th safest city over 200k in violent crime. Where did Denver rate WW?

As opposed to any other large city, where crime never happens, right?

The houses are much cheaper down there. But I refused to buy in that area, for this reason.

Hey Michael, no need for any journalistic accuracy or facts -- why not call this THE FIRST homicide in Aurora??

...  since you and Wasteword find it so important to claim something is "the first" ... even if it's a lie.

... or maybe this was another application of your fabricated scope of the Colorado "make my day" statute.

... or perhaps this had something to do with "the first legal" hemp harvest ... that wasn't.

... perhaps Bongsucker Billy having been declared "the first" pot reviewer is now "an expert on all things" ballistic too?
