14. Drive over Trail Ridge Road
Open only when the weather's warm enough to melt the snow that normally blankets it, the stretch of U.S. Highway 34 known as Trail Ridge Road reaches a maximum elevation of 12,183 feet, making it the highest continuous paved road in America. Drivers who take it across Rocky Mountain National Park traverse forests and mountain passes as they weave back and forth across the treeline.
