Prior to Super Bowl Sunday, the Denver Police Department announced tactics to combat celebrations gone too far in the event of a Broncos victory.

Unfortunately, a win wasn't in the cards for Denver -- yet cops deployed near the Metro State campus as part of the plan wound up responding to a related act of violence anyway, owing to a post-Super Bowl party shooting near 14th and Kalamath that left a man in critical condition. Here's what we know thus far.

This is an early tweet about the incident from the DPD Twitter feed....

Of course, the intersection looked very different last night, as can be seen in a photo tweeted by the DPD:

According to information provided by DPD spokesman Sonny Jackson to 9News, a suspect is thought to have fled the area on foot.

Thus far, there's been neither information about an arrest or witness descriptions of the shooter. As such, he's considered to be at large, as well as presumably armed and dangerous.

As for the victim, he's said to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. At last report, he was in critical condition.

I know I wasn't justifying it. We don't know the circumstances. Im saying there's a hidden issue that was going on, and may have been able to be stopped with counseling or something that could have been easily provided for the shooter by the system.

Not justifying anything. I used to live in that area and it was sketchy. I can't afford Wash Park either.

You guys report on every shooting, stabbing or slapping that happens around here. There is absolutely nothing that links this to anything sports related except that fact that it was after a Super Bowl party. So you're almost saying any crime committed right after the Super Bowl is related to the game because EVERYONE WATCHES THE SUPER BOWL. The chances of someone attending a SB party is like, 80% or higher.

Football is an emotional sport no doubt. Add alcohol, cocaine, etc. It gets bad. No excuse, but true...

How is this related to the Bronco game? or it's outcome? Just the time frame? Fill me in.

People in general take sports way to seriously. If only they had that much passion for something that mattered.

Many people take losing personally. Consider that domestic violence goes unreported all the time. Last night many women were beat by disgruntled batterers, but that does not make the news.

Are you suggesting that there wouldn't have been a shooting(s) if they had won?

Not a fan. I stand back and laugh how much "importance" people put into it. Or maybe it's sad. Hmmmm

This is awful but on a side note Why is DPD tweeting pictures of crime scenes?

@ItsTrivial And what would a gang banger with an illegal gun have to do with the 2nd amendment?

@JimTom @ItsTrivial  ... where in the 2nd Amendment does it say Gang-bangers can't have illegal guns?

What part of "..shall NOT be Infringed" don't you comprehend?

@LibTardsLuvViolence @DonkeyHotay @JimTom @ItsTrivial

The words "law abiding" do NOT appear anywhere in the 2nd amendment, numbnuts.

The "Founding Fathers" were NOT "law abiding" when they took up arms against the King.

What part of "... shall NOT be infringed" don't ignorant fucktards like you comprehend?

@DonkeyHotay @JimTom @ItsTrivial  'shall not be infringed' means that lib-tards don't get to leave law abiding citizens defenseless against street thugs by imposing restrictions on their access to these weapons. read it. even a child can understand it.
