Big images and more below.
When it comes to the faith, a couple of Colorado cities have represented extremes in recent surveys, with Colorado Springs listed as one of the most saintly and Boulder called one of the least religious. But what about the state as a whole? A new Gallup poll ranks all fifty states plus the District of Columbia in terms of religion -- and Colorado winds up following Boulder's lead more than Colorado Springs'. How lacking in religion is it? Count down the complete roster from most to least religious below, accompanied by graphics and stats from Gallup.

Thank you for giving us a non-academic non-peer reviewed non-evidence based magazine article to prove your point. That was super intellectual of you. I look forward to more of your special brand of academia.

We are truly the least religious identifying state in the country according to census. I think that its because people here identify themselves more as spiritual than religious.

I think we more "spiritual" and not necessarily religious. I think that we find harmony in our surroundings, understand that we are part of a much bigger thing, find appreciation in it and kinda leave it at that.

Religion can't get you into heaven, but faith, trust and belief will guide you away from manufacturer's sewers. Don't be a fool, if you want the very best information and guidance. Let the great I am tell you how it all came together.

Good thing - if they ranked most spiritual and appreciative of gifts from the universe, we may rank #1

I love that about Colorado! When Colorado first became a state it had more theaters than churches, it is a good thing!

A good thing! Now if we'd just become the most tolerant state!

Any coincidence that I can be in Boulder, and nobody bats an eye when they see a gay couple holding hands? Colorado is like a diamond in the rough.

Just another reason I love this state! Maybe its just the circles I run in, but most of the time I meet someone, they tend to be non-religious. Its very comforting.

It seems like everyone here says, "I'm not religious. I'm just SPIRITUAL." as if that makes it any less stupid.

Just b/c you're not religious doesn't make you a bad person. There's those in your face atheists just like how there's those in your face Christians. Be open minded - I may not agree with your views on things but I'll listen and won't criticize you as long as you don't criticize me.

You are the exact kind of person that I am talking about. Nobody cares what you have to say about other people, yet you feel the need to say it anyways. You are judging blindly and that is the problem with religion. Everyone is held to the exact same standards yet we are all different people. Believe in whatever you want to, but please do not ask people to be the same as you for you are no better than anyone else. We are all the same regardless of what or how we think.

Hallelujah!!!! Hahahahaaa.. What if I told you God is purely spiritual and requires no affiliation to a man made religion?

There is a strong negative correlation between religiosity and societal health, so I think the further down the list, the better. Enough with the bronze-age nonsense.

Too bad you couldn't take your own advice. Otherwise, you wouldn't have spouted off this blatantly illogical tripe.

I actually am. Reading the majority of comments on local news articles I'd think we'd be up higher on the list. And of course Denver is talking about hosting the RNC in the next couple years since we're a borderline red state...

Perhaps, but the Denver archdiocese of the Catholc Church is one of the fasts growing areas in the country. More people are converting (or re-joining the Catholic Church here than most other places in America. - there is a growing movement toward the truth and there is hope.

Not least religious. This means that most people don't want to talk about their beliefs. That's the way it should be. Believe in anything that you want to and don't force anyone to think the same way you do. Mind your business. That's all. Just mind your business. Way to go Colorado. Keep keeping your mouth shut.

Brendan, for some reason, I had no idea of that even though I was born and raised there. It is very interesting, considering New England was once extremely religious.
