Isn't there already like 15 other independent grocers in Boulder. I guess I've never been to Trader Joes so I don't know what the fuss is all about.

Westword sure does seem to target those that don't bow down to them or offer something in return for a shameless plug. What did you get from Voodoo Donuts that Trader Joes wasn't willing to offer?

That's a bold-faced lie. ^ Many many jobs do not require a drug test.

@Adam Drotar. You don't think the people at Snooze or Voodoo are idiots because it's a place you like. Convenient.

Just got back from the Boulder Trader Joe's. I bought $175 worth of awesome stuff, and it took all of 30 minutes from entrance to exit...there was even an open register when I got to check out. I suggest going early. It's all about timing....nuff said

It's a just a priority thing. If you don't want to wait in line just go oh your way. There's less people in traffic right?

You people make absolutely no sense. Don't you want business to thrive here in Denver? Well, if there are long lines it sounds like they are doing pretty damn good so far.

What? No advertising dollars from Trader Joe's? Awww. So sad. Now you bash them, and the people shopping there. Hey, this is a great idea. Maybe Westword can sue them for long lines. Bout as frivolous as a lawsuit could be, kinda like Westword filing a lawsuit against our fine state because they cannot collect advertising revenue from the recreational mj shops they think are "raping" people in terms of cost after tax.

I have never been there, but curious about it. I plan on going, but not until it calms down a bit.

I wonder if people would wait in line for Aldis, who are owned by the same people as Trader Joes?

Wow, people are blaming political parties for individuals wanting to create excitement and a party-type atmosphere at a store they are happy to see opening. If politics is running your life that much, you need to turn off your TV asshole!!! I hope these stores do well and these people have a fun time promoting something that makes them happy!

Just be patient they're gonna be around for a while. No since waiting to get in the door for hours then getting pissed because you had to wait 30mins to get checked out.

If I look at my time in billable hours, and the time it takes to get in and out of trader joes for a case of 2 buck chuck, I'd guess its a two hour ordeal, my time is better spent spending an extra 30$ in 10 min on a case at argaonaut. I can buy cheese at king spopers. And avoiding the foul yuppie stench that fills spaces like these, you can't put a price on that my friends.

Yes. Yes they are. Nothing is worth standing in line for hours for, not Trader Joe's, not Voodoo, not recreational pot. Nothing.

It's NOT WORSE - if you're some 'Brain-Dead' Dumbocrat who follows TRENDY Media-Induced Crap & Votes for Complete FRAUDS like Barack Obama while Clint Eastwood & Actor James Woods KEEP TELLING YOU what a FRAUD Obama is !!!

I've been waiting for 5 year for Trader Joe's to show up in the CO since moving from the San Fernando Valley!!! What's another small chunk of time in line??? They'll eventually thin when the excitement dies down. (I think) It sure beats spending all your time on the Internet bitching about other people's idea of time management. And besides, spending time in a TJ's line is a very social, fun, party. That's what TJ's is all about.....great product and fun!!! (IMHO) You're either a "Star Bellied Sneech" or your not...Come on down and have a Mochi... You'll feel betteri!!!!.

I'm just going to say that when it comes time for a few people and their life flashes before them- they'll see themselves standing in line

I wonder how many people at the Colorado store came out and found their car gone? I saw tow trucks circling like sharks.

I waited in line for 13 hours (thirteen hours, yes....not a typo) to see Stephen King in Boulder last September. He WAS worth the wait; Trader Joe's is not....though admittedly I did go over to Colo Blvd after work on opening day. The lines to get in were gone, but it took 20-25 minutes to reach a cashier to check out my stuff. Definitely not deserving of the hype. Organic produce is lacking as were vegan options. To me, it's a cross between Sprouts and Whole Foods, but the prices weren't that great at TJ's.

They literally had cars with one wheel on the sidewalk waiting to get into the parking lot, police running traffic control, how dumb. Not to mention the traffic on a street not made for it, I will wait.

Disagree. It's NOT your typical "chain." Very good store. Show 'em some love. (They'll show you some.)

I'm going to wait a while before I go. As for the Snooze comments I guess I don't get it. I mean they are pretty good but not that good. Plus overpriced. Sam's is much better

I walked in and promptly walked out when I saw the line, I'd say these Coloradans must be in the army since they love standing in lines... but they were all pretty much yuppies with nothing to do on Monday but paw at the last few pieces of produce

Lines happen when demand exceeds throughput. Clearly people want what Trader Joe's is offering, and they're willing to wait in line to get it. Personally I think reasonably priced, interesting, moderately healthy food items are a more worthwhile endeavor than a fucking doughnut.

Yuppies buying $2 buck Chuck? I think you better look up the definition of Yuppie before you make such clueless claims.

The Yuppies cleaning lady might buy $2 buck Chuck but no Yuppie worth the gas their BMW would be caught dead in a low budget waste land like Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's is for the common folk who can't even afford to shop at Whole Foods.
