I'm so lost in my own world of getting to know someone before judging them that I didn't even know my restaurants are full of hipsters. thanks westword for teaching me stuff.

Style is style weather I like yours or not... Most people don't like my style but that doesn't affect the service I give. I go places for the food not the people surrounding me.

Steubens, D Bar, Now ChoLon, So many nice places are created and bums with no style or class or money to buy nice clothes dress how they want and tarnish places... these are my top three though.

Westword staff, your so called "articles" are a joke. You're all more pretentious and judgmental than the Denverrites you bash daily. Please explain to me why you constantly feel the need to talk badly about our city that you live in and work for too? Grow up.

I love you Westword but you (and other media outlets riding the Buzzfeed-style 'journalism' gravy train) are at fault for pushing the hipster meme. Stop judging folks and let them be weird.

Sometimes they give out free PB&J's at civic center park on Saturdays, I hate those douche bag hipsters sooooo much.

Hipster is a code word here for "I feel old and increasingly irrelevant. Hey those young people are making me feel insecure about myself, just by being themselves! Oh no! They don't seem to care that I've discredited them just by looking at them! Self-important douchebags!!!" The irony of it all.

If you are so concerned about other people in such a way the you're not going to eat or drink or hang were you want to then you need to stay home.

Absolutely, the whole thing reeks of a level of insecurity and paranoia I can't even fathom. There's no "hipster" secret society in Denver, and in the hundreds of times I've been to City O City I've had bad service maybe twice. The same goes for most of the restaurants people have listed here.

I propose a "Save the Hipsters" campaign. Whoever shall we bash when they have all reached their mid-forties, lost their hair and gained a spare tire? Are there any up-and-coming future douches we can direct our scorn toward?

As a "douchebag" employee of one of these "hipster" restaurants, I thought I'd chime in with a comment. It's ridiculous to lump a group of individuals together as if we're all mindless drones in the same hive. A lot of us may have tattoos, piercings, and enjoy the arts but we're still different people with different tastes. I think a lot of people go to specific establishments with preconceived notions of what the environment and service will be like and no matter how they're treated, they'll still come out saying something like, "I had to wait an extra 30 seconds for my drink because my server was a hipster douchebag and didn't think I was cool enough." Servers depend on tips to pay for the necessities in life. It makes no sense to assume that we would intentionally sabotage ourselves into getting bad tips by providing inferior service because a guest had on a business suit instead of a vintage t-shirt. I have a wife and daughter. We need my tips to live. I have worked my entire life in customer service in a variety of fields and even owned my own business for a few years. I know the importance of treating everyone in a courteous and professional manner. If it's a busy Friday night and I accidentally forgot your extra side of Ranch dressing, it's probably because I got double-sat while I still needed to put in several orders, close out other tables, and run food and drinks, not because I think I'm better than you.

Hey, a good restaurant is a good restaurant. The only places I try to avoid are places with lots of kids running around. Although the one place that DOES qualify for annoying hipster place is City o City. Horrible service and pretentious attitude.

I am sorry, but what exactly IS a hipster? Anyone know or are we just lumping in a bunch of people under that moniker? Most of the people that I know that are called "hipsters" are the ones that are starting amazing businesses, creating beautiful art and opening great coffee houses and restaurants. They are some of the people that are making Denver a wonderful and exciting place to be. Don't judge a book by its cover and enough with all this hipster shit.

I rarely make it to these places and some of them are worth the food, but I feel a weird vibe from this crowd... Rather uncomfortable and a feeling of being a blacksheep. Its like a rather large popular highschool click of Denverites, which are probably not natives.... haha

Oh Westword, always the pinnacle of journalism. Meanwhile, thank goodness these awful judgmental crybabies in the comments will be staying out of all of the good restaurants in Denver. Enjoy wearing your sweats to Olive Garden.

I love sputniks and Stella's great fries and great coffee.. Haven't been to the other places mentioned though.. Been to Paris on the plate but that place is old news, as is Lela's coffee shop but those use to be the "scene kid" hang out spots back when that was actually a thing lol

how can this be considered credible? the word "douchebag" was used. "news"articles shouldn't use words like that.

You know a hipster with a job?

That's a first.

None of the above actually, a hipster could be best summed up as someone who was dressing like a "gangster" when that was the "cool" thing to do then they moved on to emo and goth, wore all black, painted they're nails and cut themselves. The following year after that it was tye-dyed t-shirts and pretending you're really into the grateful dead even though you can only recognize the song Casey Jones and sing it loud an proud every time you hear it. Now I believe the hipsters or "scene kids" as we use to call em in the 90's have tossed away the tye dye shirts and patchwork pants for skinny jeans, flat bills and brightly colored oversized shoes. They passed on the pot and picked up Molly and attend EDM shows instead of jam band festivals. Basically they just like doing whatever's "in" at the moment which isn't a totally bad thing but the true hipster will also harbor an elitist attitude and view you as beneath them and that's not ok :)
