Reader: All those white-collar f*cks in Douglas County understand is money

marijuana.money.thinkstock.205x205.jpg
When we shared our post about the $3.5 million in marijuana tax revenues collected by the State of Colorado in January, we asked if readers think cities and counties that have banned recreational sales will reconsider when they see how much money is coming in. Plenty answered "yes," often passionately. Here's one example.

Lydia Cabrera writes:

Yep, watch the hypocritical cities come out and ask for some of that money. I refuse to spend my money in Douglas County or any other cities where MMJ or rec is not allowed. All those white collar fucks understand is $$.

How about a defamation of character lawsuit against the state of Colorado and whoever wrote that "Get high, Get a DUI" ad campaign for portraying marijuana smokers as idiots?

He didn't say everyone in Douglas County. He said "white collar fucks". That's pretty specific.

Brighton is FAR from a white collar community, but when I asked Mayor Dick Mclean why they wouldn't consider it, his response was "we don't want that ELEMENT here in Brighton".
Apparently Dick the Mayor is blind or something ;) ..... A quick look around town clearly shows that element is clearly there (kinda like it is everywhere)

I'm not really sure why people are badmouthing Doug CO?  We don't want any weed in the county...what is the problem?  We are the most popular county in all of Colorado for people to chose to live...and if we want to keep the weed out for whatever reason we give...STFU and move on with it.  We haven't said a word about the revenue generated by the tax...cause quite frankly we have enough money from people who acutally contribute to the common good...and not just get wasted all day long.

So do me a favor...stay the hell out of Doug Co...don't come here, don't buy here...dont spend money here...cause we don't need tweaker funds!  We are doing just fine with out it...and like to keep it that way.  Keep that shit in Denver where it belongs!

I think it's always a good idea to grossly generalize people who live in a certain area.

It would be great if we could start getting some of the money WE put in BACK from the state. .......8 dollars is 8 dollars !! Hey maybe we can work something out where the tax paying citizens get kick backs from toll roads sold out from underneath us !!! LETS GET IT STARTED !!

No city or county that disallowed retail should get a slice of the pie.

Most places that banned MMJ businesses also banned MJ businesses. No matter what color collar they wear, it's hard to admit you made a mistake, and allowing recreational weed while keeping medicinal weed banned is a contradiction no one could miss. I'm sure many locations will regret banning the businesses, but their pride will prevent them from admitting it. 10 years from now, that's a different story. Then City Councils can blame those who came before them, and look progressive instead of flip-floopy by allowing the businesses.

@marcusrrose  Tweaker funds? You do understand that there's a difference between marijuana and crystal meth, right? People don't usually tweak on marijuana as far I'm aware. In fact, you could say that they act out far more on alcohol - but I don't think the local liquor store will be the focus of your wrath, will it?
