U.S. News & World Report recently set out to determine the best high schools in America, as well as the finest in each state. And while the top ten Colorado finishers didn't set any records on the national stage (the top finisher is ranked at number 66 overall), they're more wide-ranging than many might expect. The majority are located in Denver or Boulder, but schools from mountain communities and more also made their mark.

Continue to count down the top ten, complete with photos and click-to-enlarge data from U.S. News & World Report.

New Vista High School in Boulder should certainly be on any list of great schools in this state. Sadly, not enough people know about it.

Wait, there are 10 high schools in Colorado?

Ridgdview is a juvenile delinquents center and that's #5 this list is a joke

Well with that attitude, Aaron, just stay away from the schools altogether, and let us positive thinking people work.

It's not a cellphone. You can't just "upgrade" a school. Yeah, it'd be great if every high school in the state had 91% of the student population reading at a proficient or advanced level. It won't ever happen though, not unless we just dumb down the curriculum to fudge the results.

Ok east should legit be on here, more so than all these suburb ass schools everyone else is whining about

Maybe we should upgrade all our schools so they all are the best. Then it wouldn't matter where you live, as it should be. Every child is worth a good education.

@Clara do you want a medal or cookies or something. Don't lecture me you pretentious, entitled woman . You have no idea what I or anyone has been through. Get off your high horse

So, even if what you say is true "they are not smart enough to move" How is that the childs fault, maybe we should upgrade schools for children that dont have parents as "smart" as you.

The schools on the list are not nearly AS diverse as the picture would imply.

The surprise is that people are not smart enough to move into a neighborhood with a good school. That should be a PRIORITY. Don't tell me about finances. If there's a will, there's a way. I got out of Denver and so can they.

Really? What are you trying to say? Our schools are multiracial.

I didn't have a half day to flip through the article. Is Lakewood High School on the list?

No, don't agree. Lots of schools left out, not a good representation. What about St. Mary's, Overland, Columbine (which has recovered beautifully from the school shooting, please), Arapahoe, Littleton and Eaglecrest to name a few.

I think you mean Denver Academy is first

This picture is not an accurate representation of the Colorado students being well served.

Yes, I would rather have to click for each photo as well.  Lets turn hardly a half page story into 5.  Great job guys, I know, I know - more add revenue.

It would be nice if 5 clicks were not required to read 1 article. Fail.

If y'all broke up these buzzfeedy posts so that there was only ONE item on each page, instead of two, you could make us click twice as many times. What do you think? Great idea or greatest idea?

I went to one of these schools. Good academically but I also know it has one of the highest instances of bullying in the state...

I can tell you that my high school did not look like that picture haha

That's because Republicans dominate the landscape. Only schools from liberal areas count.
