Earlier this month, we broke down the number of crimes in one Denver neighborhood -- ours -- and discovered there had been 23 over the course of eleven days. Now, Fox31 has taken this concept a step further by using Denver Police Department records to discover the Denver neighborhoods with the most and least crime between 2009 and 2013 in several categories -- including auto theft.

Look below to count down the top ten Denver neighborhoods where you're most likely to get your car stolen, complete with interactive graphics (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map") and theft totals from each area.

Number 10: Mar Lee

I lived in the Highlands neighborhood once and my insurance skyrocketed and then all of my roommates had their cars broken into and I only lived there for about 6 months! Thankfully I escaped unscathed perhaps because I was a night owl and I always stayed up late and parked near the window of my room.

If you going to 711 to get some coffee leave your car running it's going to get stolen. In any neighborhood.

We lived in Speer when my partner's 1981 Toyota pickup was stolen. We managed to recover it the same day, but whoever stole it also took two axes, some tools, and some personal documents. When we got the car back, there was a bowl and spoon that didn't belong to us, plus some paperwork with names (not ours) on it. We went by the police station to drop it off and their response was: "just throw it away. We don't follow up on this stuff once you get the car back."

All I wanted to see, was a fucking list of neighborhoods where car thieves play. Instead, I got to click 6 pages just to see this list (maps) and now I can't remember who was even at the top of that list.  Westword, you won't be getting any clicks from me again, as I just blocked you from my feed.

PS.  If you wanted to show the maps that bad, you could have linked them instead of annoying your readers.

Sunnyside is the new shit anyway! Up in the "Nutty"! Also, models of cars should have been tracked, too. Some are much higher on the stolen list than others.

Having a car, or bike stolen happens Anywhere in Denver. Don't keep valuables in your car & lock it.

LOOKS AS IS IF THE WHITE AREAS ARE THE ONLY SAFE BETS MAYBE 5 MORE YEARS AND THEY WILL SCRATCH HIGHLANDS OFF THE LIST.

On my second day of teaching kindergarten in 5 points, I walked out at lunch to my car stolen. Bummer. Bike stolen in the Central Business District, ironically enlighten while I was in a bike infrastructure meeting. At the end of the day they are just things though.

Cops are never around those better neighborhoods enforcing the law because they prefer to have them in the "worse" neighborhoods like mine(Elyria/Swansea) who do nothing but harass us with bullshit reasoning, Theyre useless over here.

Yup... My hood made the list at #9. Surprised it didn't rank further up... My BF's car was stolen from in front of my house last year, and there was an unsuccessful attempt to steal his truck a few weeks ago (wires dangling from dash). No cops to be found...

How is cap hill not on the list ? Two months ago I found a person sleeping in my jeep lol .

Of course, a good way to avoid having your car stolen is to not own a car attractive to thieves.

The best way is to simply not own a car at all.

I'm getting really tired of this "two item per page" bullshit, Westword. Buzzfeed doesn't even make us do that.

Man the Westwood needs to get more mobile savvy. Why should I have to load through 6 individual pages to read a top 10 list on a blog? 1 page guys you can fit it all on one long page and even have room for all your advertisers.

Say I live in a neighborhood that has 50 cars and one car gets stolen that year. Now, my friend Carla lives in a neighborhood with 500 cars, and five get stolen that year.

By the logic of this article, Carla's neighborhood would rank higher than mine on the "likelihood of cars getting stolen," even though that's wrong -- there was a 2% chance it was my car stolen that year, compared to a 1% chance in Carla's neighborhood. Seems wrong.

By "Athman Park" do you maybe mean "Athmar Park"?

No.

The real deterrent is a garage. And, parking your car inside it.

Highland has a distinct shortage of garages.
