I live close to Five Points. It isn't as bad as living in nice Georgia neighborhoods. In fact it isn't bad at all. I'm surprised Barnum isn't on the list.

You missed the parts of Denver that fringes around Glendale.  Glendale itself has an amazingly efficient law enforcement presence so it is reasonably safe in that insular part of the Metro area.  But, the apartment complexes that are on the borders and several blocks each way are riddled with all the ghetto elements that cause high crime.  Plus, the way that the DPD takes their time in responding to calls, it is the perfect place for criminals to hole-up.

I hope Northglenn is on that list. I have never been safe in Northglenn. Ever since I was a wee little kid the Northglenn police have been stalking me, harassing me, and trying to pin things on me. They even peep in my homes windows front of the yard and walk around to the back of the yard to peep in the windows. Still I have a clean record except for the multiple NGPD traffic stops they like to sucker punch money out of my pocket with in a corrupt court of the northglenn. Never been to jail never did any real crime but I get treated like public enemy number 1 by the police in Northglenn. If you don't trust the police in a town I would say that city is very unsafe.

I imagine "most crimes" gets into traffic violations and shoplifting. Some of these things are products of more people passing through and not really the kind of stuff that would make you less safe in your home.

Sean Norris......Five points is number one. No wonder that fool was waking and barking like a dog.

Please keep telling people that Five Points is the most dangerous neighborhood in Denver. It's a good deterrent from bringing suburbanites into Downtown. The last thing this neighborhood needs is more rich assholes buying million dollar homes. Good job Westword.

Ok so 5points is supposed to be the new up and coming area and it's number 1 on the worst places to live... Bahaha that's funny. I have lived in 5 points for over 4 years and it's a much quieter neighborhood then when I lived in englewood.

I agree green valley is the new montbello I was born and raised in green valley when it was small and had no stores or buildings but that conoco we called the barn store as kids when I was little green valley was safe we played outside all day all night and worried about nothing... no crimes or gangs pervs nothing... then going to montbello hs I saw bad shit being one out 9 white kids at that school but that's not about race right? Only if some white person mentions it... I had to learn how to fight being white in that school getting jumped just for being white. . Then they all migrate to green valley that's what made it bad.. I have 25 years of living in both places to back me

Park Hill (now known as Stapleton I guess) is only dangerous to the new "hipsters" moving in. For myself and other's who have lived in different areas of Park Hill for 30+ years, it's not dangerous at all. If you mind your own business, go to work and take care of your family and you'll be okay. When you start walking around the neighborhood with your damn dogs and allow them to s*** everywhere and try to force long term residents out using extreme measures, things will absolutely get dangerous for you.

Long live Park Hill and its lifelong residents. :o)

LOL!

Typical Wasteword - Stoner Math FAIL!

Total crimes doesn't mean shit -- it's the adjusted PER CAPITA crime RATE that matters, and in areas where large proportions of non-residents visit -- such as downtown business district, and ballpark area -- those overall regular visitors need to be factored in and adjusted for.

Westword you gotta do better! That photo of a scared white woman... Really!? I've lived in Five Points my whole life. I ain't scared as a matter of fact, I've always felt safe in my neighborhood. What's the severity of the so called "crimes" committed? Remember gettin a ticket for DWB still happens here! Light rail tickets don't count! Smh!

What would be a good deterrent for out-of-staters who, in their desire to be hip and edgy, move to a neighborhood and then proceed to try and dictate where others may or may not live to preserve their perceived hipness?

stanley1

....because I'm sure your lily-white hipster ass is a Five Points O.G., right? Tool.

No. No it's not. I've lived in both places, and you're completely full of shit and the stats back it up. Keep spinning, though.

Melissa you're right but it's not that bad i just walked past that intersection from king soopers an hour ago and said hi to 4 random people i didn't know and they were chill, but overall you are right that is exactly how it happened but you left out the relocations of five points coming to GVR thats when crime boosted here sad enough to say.

No, but shootings and jackings at the 30th and Downing light rail station DO count. But hey, glad you feel safe....ignorance and stupidity sure is bliss.

Poor stupid Andres....projecting his lack of manhood on those who actually value their rights of self-defense against whiny-ass pussies like himself.

The suburban folks who exercise their second amendment rights are a large part of the reason there isn't as much crime in the suburbs (that, and the lack of entitled minorities and illegal aliens).  Just FYI.

Also, just FYI, Zimmerman has been a registered Democrat for his entire adult life.

Not that backwards clowns like you are interested in facts, I just thought it would be fun to point out what an idiot you are (as if your post didn't do that already).

@DonkeyHotay @stanley1 @GJFlash  Man...doesn't it suck when things don't follow "the narrative"? Hey, I wonder if, since he was a "light-skinned" hispanic, if he was also clean and articulate? Too bad Bobby Byrd isn't around to ask.

@DonkeyHotay @stanley1 @GJFlash

Hahah...oh, so now it's important if he VOTED democrat, but if this moron had a bumper sticker, yard sign, or ANYTHING that would tie him to a Republican or conservative, you'd have a little 2 inch hard-on. But being a REGISTERED dem? Nah, nothing to see here. He's a Dem, a loser, and a coward-just like you and your other fellow leftist scum.

DonkeyHotay

@stanley1 @DonkeyHotay @GJFlash

You have ZERO proof that the trigger-happy gun-loon coward actually voted democrat.

He was nothing more than a DINO, based upon his actual attitude and actions.

stanley1

@DonkeyHotay @GJFlash  Idiotic, as usual. Can't rebut the truth so you attempt a lame deflection. Zimmerman was a Dem and a minority, at that. Watching idiot leftist fucks' heads explode at that "dilemma" puts a smile on my face everytime. Little pussy ass bitch.
