Dylan Redwine homicide: Is just-hospitalized dad Mark Redwine being stalked by haters?

In November 2012, thirteen-year-old Dylan Redwine disappeared near the southwestern Colorado home of his dad, Mark Redwine. His remains were found in June 2013, with La Plata County investigators launching a homicide investigation -- and while Mark has never been officially named as a suspect, he's been under relentless pressure from the mainstream press and (especially) social media.

The latest twist: Mark was hospitalized early Saturday morning after bizarre behavior he says was motivated by concern that he was being "stalked" by "haters."

The basics about the case, as we've we've reported them: Dylan's mother, Elaine, divorced Mark in 2007; Dylan moved with his mom from southwestern Colorado to Colorado Springs in 2011. On November 18, however, Dylan traveled to the community of Vallecito, not far from Durango, to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with his dad.

The next day, Mark told representatives of the La Plata Sheriff's Office that he left home around 7:30 a.m. to run some errands, and upon his return four hours later, Dylan was gone. And he remained missing until his remains were discovered in a search of Middle Mountain, not far from Vallecito Lake, in late June.

In the interim, Elaine raised questions about Mark, sharing with ABC News her suspicion that her ex-husband may have tried to "remove Dylan from the situation. You know, like, 'If I can't have him, nobody will.'

"I was married to Mark for a lot of years, and I know the way he reacts to things," she went on. "If Dylan maybe did or said something that wasn't what Mark wanted to hear, I'm just afraid of how Mark would have reacted."

Responding to these implications, Mark told 7News that Elaine was making the situation "more than it needs to be" before adding that he wanted to avoid lashing out at her.

The public bickering continued on a national stage. Here's Elaine and Mark on an episode of Dr. Phil from a 2013 episode.

Also piling on Mark has been the Calling Mark Redwine Facebook page, which has kept up a steady attack on its subject for well over a year. Last August, for instance, it was among the first places to note that authorities were conducting a search of Mark's home.

Continue for more about the recent hospitalization of Mark Redwine, including photos and videos.

Leave the poor guy alone?  Stupidity on the Westward is nothing new, but I'm surprised this case hasn't had more steam. Being a creepy Bastard doesn't equal murder, but I think if you took more than 3 seconds to read anything about this case you'd know that the Father of this boy has acted suspicious and bizarre from the start.   Fathers of missing kids don't refuse polygraphs unless they got something to hide.  Hey Jimmy, did you know that Mark Redwine has a secret fetish?  Apparently it originally came out on Dr. Phil, he  allegedly wears oversize Nappies and little girl clothes, while he shits himself and proceeds to EAT IT.  Don't believe it, GOOGLE it, because it's out there and I've read it, not only THAT, it's VERIFIED by members that were in attendance at Dr. PHil, I guess the unedited version of Dr. Phil is pretty interesting if you know what I mean, I've heard that tape is going to be released and I will be buying the first copy.  Have a fancy day.

If you don't think he did it then you evidently haven't listened to all the interviews, including The Dr Phil show. Look at his body language, do your research! He screams guilt, Elaine shows emotion. This newscast is old. The police have since determined it wasn't Dylan the mail carrier saw that day. Google this story, listen to both sides and then form your opinion.

How do you explain a 13 yr old not using his phone any more the night before he goes missing? Why wouldn't he have used it the next morning to call his friends that he was suppose to go see at 630am. Why wouldn't MR have woke him up to take him since he was going into town....

I don't think Law Enforcement has ever looked at anyone but MRedwine, and local cops don't warn of any kind of killer or predator on the loose.  People here believe he did it because there's no one else, I think Law Enforcement thinks he did it, what they are waiting for I'm not sure.  Wish they'd just arrest him, the guy did it- imo

No-one's stalking him but his son's memory.

Didn't u get the memo, Westword? In today's Murka, trial by Internet is all that matters. Evidence, schmedivdence! It's that one FEELS he is guilty; demanding irrefutable proof is just "glorifying criminals." derp

I don't think that his father killed him. I think a child predator found him walking down the road and lured him into his car.

@jackmilleresq  Saying someone committed a crime because there's no one else to blame is a pathetic and cowardly way to judge someone.  There are quite a few cases in the past where the accused is later revealed the be innocent.  All was accomplished was tat the accused's life was ruined forever.  Any sort of accusation like that could end a career and prevent another career from starting.

... a "small foreign faction" of predators, no doubt.
