I have had it...Westward Magazine has the biggest hype-beasts Denver has to offer writing for them. Your magazine is a joke. Constant criticism of the local culture, nothing but recycled material from other cities(NY,SEA,SF.LA) and a barrage of pot ads to cover up how lame your articles really are. .  Here's a hint: Instead of judging things and criticizing from the sidelines try adding more originality and substance to your boring roster of editors.

This is the first time I've been happy to read the comments.

Oh fuck off Roberts......stick to what you're good at and go review another shitty handlebar mustache band, old cunt.

I don't know what you are anymore Westword. Sometimes you put out these really well researched pieces on crime, corruption, beauty, art, politics that make the paper look second to none. Other times you do something like this, just to get the clicks, and then if it gets enough of those you post it three or four more times.

I think that's a bit unfair. This one got shared with many of the people who took part in DCC and, unlike those other stories you talk about, this event benefits children and is a family friendly event meant to bring people together. Just because I am not okay with this one, doesn't mean I was okay with the other posts they put up.

The convention isn't your place to sit around and play real life Tinder while you're waiting for whatever dumb sporting event you'd rather be covering to start. You guys are the ONLY ones still propagating the "comic book guy stereotype." by the way. So thanks for that too.

This is so very disappointing. One of my favorite memories of DCC? I was washing my hands in the restroom when a young teenager, probably about 13 of 14, walks in and starts adjusting her wig. She was clearly struggling with it, so a few of us helped her fix it. The poor girl kept saying "I can't believe you are being so nice to me." And that broke my heart in a million pieces. Because we all know teenage girls can be really mean, especially to girls who don't fit in with the norm. I hope that girl walked away from Comic Con knowing she found a place where she belongs. I hope she never reads this article, for I don't want her to live in a world where her only value is based on how hot she is. I never thought the folks at the Westword would promote such bullying. Shame on you.

The title of this post is appalling. It demeans all attendees. It demeans the comic fans. It demeans the cosplayers (Who worked incredibly hard on their costumes and should be judged for that, not their hotness as perceived by some pathetic Westword Blogger). It demeans an entire subculture.

Conventions are about all people coming together to celebrate the things they love. They aim to be a safe and accepting space free of ridicule and unfair judgement. You can tell I'm right because one of the freaking founders called you out on what bullshit this article was.

I will never pick up another copy of Westword ever again. Congratulations on summing up everything that's wrong with gender relations in the culture in one stupid sentence. Michael Roberts you owe an apology to everyone who read that piece of gosa headline.

Dunno why anyone would read the shit Writers are terrible and the editors are worse

As one of the founders, this is a profoundly disappointing headline. One of the reasons we did this was so that everyone would have a place to go where they wouldn't be ridiculed or judged by “hot or not“ they were. I've been reading Westwood for for almost 30 years. I don't think I'll be picking up another issue.

Unfortunately with articles like this pathetic excuse for one; you can see how (Much like MTV) Westward is selling out and pandering to the Moronic Sheeple of Denver. These kind of readers care less about actual news rather they only care about what the latest fashions are or who Kim K. Is banging out now!

Heather Doozer

it wouldn't be so bad if the articles were actually about interesting things at the events

Heather Doozer

I find it interesting how many people find this offensive (rightfully so), but are OK with all the other half-naked chix and mug shots they use as click bait. I want to keep them in my news feed for music and event related articles, but I too am about to unlike them because i'm ever so sick of this degrading BS

Heather Doozer

shouldn't we be more interested in crazy cool outfits than if 'hot' people are there. Way to turn a geek fest into a sorority party. is westword run by frat boys? it really seems like it most of the time

Savannah Gebers

How rude. Pretty sure you lost many fans of Westword, including myself

this is pathetic. The whole point of Con is for everyone to be accepted. Stop making it about looks and who is better!

It shows how out of touch Westword is with fan culture. Can't say I'm surprised.

Strange but true promoting stereotypes of subcultures is one of the few tools Westword can use to actually get people to click on their shitty articles. The level of writing on your web content has officially hit the bottom of the barrel. Maybe instead of hiring writers that are thinking about if there are going to be "hot" people at events you hire some people that can actually do reporting. Done with Westword.

Jeremy Dobson

What do you expect from Westword? Everyone knows it is a garbage publication.

MattandKayla Yeaman
MattandKayla Yeaman

So much wrong with this article, but everyone has covered it. I love how our focus as a society is if someone is hot, or not. Maybe the headline should've been some other outrageous stereotypical headline like "besides all these super smart people here, there are some obviously dumb ones as well because they are hot"

Ryan Bohnenkamp
Ryan Bohnenkamp

The question is, are there good looking people that work at the westword? Off the top of my head, I probably wouldn't guess there are, but you might be surprised. Stick to weed reporting, you are at least pretty good at that

Parker Otwell Roe
Parker Otwell Roe

There are ALWAYS hot people at Comic Con. There are ALWAYS hot people at ALL comic cons. There are ALL SORTS OF PEOPLE AT THESE EVENTS!!! These are just cross sections of various American subcultures meeting anyways, so your headline is ridiculously invalid and immaterial. But, then again, MOST of your foolish "news" is rubbish...

Krystal Tubbs

Wow. Good job offending every person who went to DCC.

Geez, such a lovely headline. Way to belittle people Westword. I wouldn't expect nothing less from your shitty paper.
