Reader: Having pot clubs shouldn't be that big a deal

club.710.565x300.jpg
Club 710 in Colorado Springs this past January.
In a recent interview, NORML executive director Allen St. Pierre argued in favor of Colorado allowing venues for the consumption of cannabis. We asked folks on our Facebook page for their views and got plenty of strong opinions, including this one.

Kev Markis writes:

I don't think people wanting a pot club/cafe is a big deal. It's not like it's an animal fucking secret society.

People would be down....and the City of Denver and the DPD would harass and threaten your business license.

I agree that pot clubs would not be secret animal fucking societies. Hopefully.

Wasn't the whole reason we legalized it in the first place was to regulate and tax in similar fashion to alcohol? Seems it has been steered away from, crack down on edibles, it's never sold at concert venues, no pot bars, you can't even smoke it in the smoking section of bars. What gives?

Shouldn't be but it is. People would rather open up more breweries and put drunks on the road but heaven forbid you let people smoke in a coffee shop.

Anyone who argues against this has nothing to stand on when you point out that all night clubs serve people a legal toxin on a nightly basis, causing hundreds of drunk driving deaths per year. Can anyone say the same about weed? I'm still waiting on the first OD from smoking it... still waiting........

If i had the money i would open a marijuana hookah lounge... regular hookah lounges in Denver already do very well, imagine marijuana + hookah + good music... who wouldn't be down?

I smoke weed on the patio of most the restaurants/bars I go to. No one seems to care, especially if you're with a lot of people racking up a large bill.

The City of Denver is definitely on record as opposing pot clubs. Thanks for posting, Christine.

... so why did you vote for that piece of crap A64 which explicitly renounced Public display and consumption?

You got EXACTLY what you voted for, chump.

@Monkey ... back in the 80s, people used to do lines of coke on the patio of the Red Lion restaurant, and tip the waitstaff with bindles of coke, and no one cared ... especially because of the large bills that people were paying for with $$.
