Photos and more below.
Back in April, INRIX.com listed Denver as the 21st most congested city in the U.S. But how do drivers here -- and elsewhere -- deal with the resulting traffic? Auto Advantage searched for this answer and more, emerging with a list of the most and least courteous drivers by city.

On which side of that continuum did Denver place? Find out in our countdown of the ten least courteous cities for drivers below, featuring photos and a sampling of Auto Advantage text and data. To see the complete report, click here.

Number 10 -- New York:

central.park.new.york.jpg
The 2014 In the Driver's Seat Road Rage Survey identified New York as having the 10th least courteous drivers across America's largest cities. This represents an improvement of 9 spots when compared to the same survey performed in 2009, when New York was ranked as least courteous.

Rankings were determined by measuring a wide array of driving actions that inhabitants admit to performing and acknowledge seeing, along with observations of their reactions to other drivers.

When compared to drivers in other cities, survey participants generally fell in the middle of the pack when it comes to aggressive or distracted driving habits. However, that doesn't mean New Yorkers have found their inner peace. Drivers in New York are:

• 2nd most likely to have purposely run into another car
• 3rd most likely to acknowledge making an obscene gesture at another driver
• 2nd most likely to have waved their arms or shaken their fist at other drivers
• 2nd most likely to have honked their horn at another driver

Number 9 -- Chicago:

The 2014 In the Driver's Seat Road Rage Survey identified Chicago as having the ninth least courteous drivers across America's largest cities. This represents an "increase" of 3 spots when compared to the same survey performed in 2009.

However, that doesn't mean folks driving around The Bean have found their inner peace. Drivers in Chicago are:

• Most likely to acknowledge cursing at another driver
• Most likely to have waved their arms or shaken their fist at other drivers
• 3rd most likely to have honked their horn at another driver

Continue to keep counting down the ten cities with the least courteous drivers -- and find out whether Denver drivers are polite or not.

Proving my point. Must be one of the low quality Imports. No problems with finer quality imports.

Colorado drivers are reasonable. It's the import drivers of colorado they come from places that are over populated and naturally have bad dispositions in driving.

Rude. Too many tailgaters. I always know I'm in Denver when I see some jerk 5 inches from my bumper even though I'm driving the speed limit (or faster).

In Houston, it's the cops with road rage.

LOL...I actually hold out hope some rich entitled dumb ass does rear-end me as a result of their tailgating...would be nice to have a slightly better vehicle at their expense.

Hmm never slow down when they see some one backing up out of a parking space, rarely use turn signals, get road rage if you are actually doing the speed limit, don't understand the law about NOT crossing a yellow line. Rude and or just stupid.

They're idiots when they drive 30 in the fast lane of the fucking highway.

I wouldn't say rude, but definitely pokey...don't understand why nowadays I'm perpetually stuck behind people who want to drive 10 under the speed limit... Like the idiot yesterday... Of course he was on his phone, so going 25 in a 40 was about all I should expect from someone like that these days

not rude at all. People rarely honk, even when they should. It's better than drivers in CA though. Talk about jerks

I would say oblivious and unobservant of general courtesies every driver should perform. Two things I wish Denver did more: use the turn signal, and understand I'm slowing down because the traffic in front is slowing down and I can't do anything to make them faster so please stop your bitching and uncomfortably close tail-gating because you're going to cause an accident.

Denver drivers are like little kids. They need someone to hold their hand when they cross the street. They're timid, not rude.

Well seeing that people like to run over cops and little Tweens like to cheer at it... I'm gonna guess rude.

There are rude drivers everywhere. After living in Denver for 5 years I must say the drivers are polite compared to many other states.

Michael Greenberg

Way too passive and laid back! And nervous! Especially when trying to merge, you merge at the end of the merge lane, not stop your car and try to merge the instant the merge lane begins. Ok....that's my rant for today : )

Drivers are rude everywhere. People suck...

Denver drivers don't know how to merge onto a highway and race through left turn lights, but they are pretty courteous, comparatively. Dallas has the worst drivers IMO.

There has been a distinct changed in the politeness and courtesy of drivers on the front range over the last couple of years. It has gone from very courteous to rude.
