Photos and more below.
Back in April, INRIX.com listed Denver as the 21st most congested city in the U.S. But how do drivers here -- and elsewhere -- deal with the resulting traffic? Auto Advantage searched for this answer and more, emerging with a list of the most and least courteous drivers by city.

On which side of that continuum did Denver place? Find out in our countdown of the ten least courteous cities for drivers below, featuring photos and a sampling of Auto Advantage text and data. To see the complete report, click here.

Number 10 -- New York:

central.park.new.york.jpg
The 2014 In the Driver's Seat Road Rage Survey identified New York as having the 10th least courteous drivers across America's largest cities. This represents an improvement of 9 spots when compared to the same survey performed in 2009, when New York was ranked as least courteous.

Rankings were determined by measuring a wide array of driving actions that inhabitants admit to performing and acknowledge seeing, along with observations of their reactions to other drivers.

When compared to drivers in other cities, survey participants generally fell in the middle of the pack when it comes to aggressive or distracted driving habits. However, that doesn't mean New Yorkers have found their inner peace. Drivers in New York are:

• 2nd most likely to have purposely run into another car
• 3rd most likely to acknowledge making an obscene gesture at another driver
• 2nd most likely to have waved their arms or shaken their fist at other drivers
• 2nd most likely to have honked their horn at another driver

Number 9 -- Chicago:
millennium.park.chicago.jpg
The 2014 In the Driver's Seat Road Rage Survey identified Chicago as having the ninth least courteous drivers across America's largest cities. This represents an "increase" of 3 spots when compared to the same survey performed in 2009.

However, that doesn't mean folks driving around The Bean have found their inner peace. Drivers in Chicago are:

• Most likely to acknowledge cursing at another driver
• Most likely to have waved their arms or shaken their fist at other drivers
• 3rd most likely to have honked their horn at another driver

Continue to keep counting down the ten cities with the least courteous drivers -- and find out whether Denver drivers are polite or not.

As a Colorado native, we really suck ass at the most basic of driving tasks. We should all have dash cams for insurance purposes. The only good thing about us is that we keep the local salvage yards full. I'm with others on this page. We need a thorough driving test and it needs to be taken more frequently.

People are so nice until they get on the road. Then they have road rage and inconsiderate.

It's not the transplants from other states, it's the Colorado drivers that just seem ignorant or brain-dead when they're behind the wheel. They hold up the passing lane and don't seem to be aware of all the traffic behind them -- they don't know how to merge -- they pull out in front of you and they don't give a damn how much they slow you down -- they don't know how to pull into an intersection preparing to turn left -- they're unaware of lights changing -- they insist on going first at a 4 way stop, even though there were people stopped at the intersection before they got there. Native Coloradans used to put a "Native" bumper sticker on their cars. I always contended that they don't need the native bumper sticker on their cars, you can tell they're a native Coloradan by how poorly they drive.

They used to be the most polite...until all the transients flooded in, now not so much. The roads are full of bad drivers and mean sons of....

The left lane is the passing lane. I watched a guy get on I70 today with little to no traffic and move straight into the left lane and drive slower than the flow of traffic forcing myself and others to pass his dumbass on the right.

Most drivers here in denver suck! I think we need more thorough dmv tests before you can get a license! I take pride in my driving and it seems like most people are in there own world not paying attention, or just dont care! It gets annoying when you can only drive one block before someone cuts you off or unnecessarily risks your life!

I have lived here 3 weeks and I cannot get a handle on the drivers out here. No consistency. I go about 5 over in a residential and some people are up my ass whereas others make me feel like Richard petty. On the interstate and in the city the drivers are certainly not as courteous as what I'm used to-- why do you think there are signs on the interstate near the construction telling people to alternate merging??

We've been here nearly 4 yrs. we thought driving in FL was bad. Coloradans rank so high on the awesome scale for so many things. But driving is NOT one of them. Awful, rude and inconsiderate drivers.

Denver drivers are OK most of the time. It's people who don't know how to park that I've ran into lately!

It's not the Denver drivers that rude, it's the transplants from Texas and California that are rude.

If only the cars driven by really stupid people were still marked.  They used to be marked with a W, but most have been removed using crow oil.

Denver isn't too bad on rudeness but the politeness ends when you are heading North towards Fort Collins.

I agree with Bree, it's not that hard to spot a newbie. They are the ones spinning out their 4x4's and holding up traffic on I-25 with their wrecks caused by stupidity.

Don't get me started on all these dumb drivers that have bald tires and think that driving the regular speed limit in snow is a good idea.

Clara Madrid
Clara Madrid

Not the rudest but pretty bad. Not using blinkers, going the speed limit in the fast lane, veering across 3 lanes of traffic, tailgating, cutting people off instead of just waiting a few seconds until the traffic clears.... And then there's all the unlicensed and uninsured drivers. Mexicans can get driver licenses now, thank God, maybe they will finally be required to learn the rules of the road. I predict that the local accident rate will decrease.
