Denver blog posts would rather be on these Rocks than any other.

At our Backbeat blog, Isa Jones shares fifty photos that prove Red Rocks is the most beautiful venue on the planet.

You've got to be kidding? Janus Landing? A nice little venue to see a show...but rival Red Rocks? I think not!

Because playing at Red Rocks is a milestone. I once had "seeing a concert at Red Rocks someday" as an entry on my bucket list. Never did I think I would actually be living in the Denver area, and going to more than one concert there!

Dillon Amphitheater kicks RR ass, it has a huge lake and mountains behind it. And the concerts are free.

Ya know, I really wish WestWord would caption the photos, as to what they are, who they are, and what is going on in each one. And not all the same caption either.

Gorge Amphitheater. Red rocks is for the artist and Gorge is for the fans. View wise that is.

The sound at Red Rocks is way overated. If you don't have premo tics, you are fucked. the upper seats are subject to winds and band.s cheap sound systems.

Santa Fe Opera is pretty amazing...and more comfortable.

I love Red Rocks but the Gorge makes Red Rocks look like Fisher Price My First Venue

It makes for some bitchin' cover art though.

Wonderful venue for most bands. But I do miss a good mosh pit there

The only place remotely close is the Santa Barbara Bowl.

It's an island.. and the shows take place in a broke down castle

Only the amphitheater overlooking the Columbia River in Washington comes close. The Gorge at George! George, Washington.

The Roman ampitheatre in Vienna, the Carthaginian amp in Tunis. The venue at the Nice Jazz fest is amazing as well. Then there is another spot in Vienna that is similar to fidddlers, but the back is full of trees andd hammocks! Many amazing venues around the world. RR is still my fav!

The Gorge in Washington is totally stunning and amazing, but it's so different from Red Rocks, it's hard to lump them in the same category. They're both my favorite!

Fiddlers can suck a dick! With there monopoly of seating prices and the 2000 yards from the stage lawn seats

Janus Landing in St Petersburg Florida is the only place that can rival Red Rocks.

Winter park was fun when they did rock fest. Beautuful scenery. A few deer walked by and you could do the alpine slide right into the stage area. Red rocks rocks. True dat

It def is a special venue no doubt. It was at one time a venue exclusively for legends. Now though, it seems they let anyone and everyone play that joint. Kinda sucks because when you look at the wall of past artists that played and how it seems RR was a sign that you really made it compared to a bunch of one hit wonders nowadays, it cheapens it's reputation IMO.

They record off the soundboard & not through open mics scattered through the venue.

The only venues you can compare to RR is outdoor Natural Amphitheaters. You can't just generalize it as a concert venue to compare to other concert venues.

Or sounds better... why do you think every band from U2 to A Perfect Circle has released a live album from there? ^_^
