Breck local Zach Black floats to 2nd place in Dew Tour Open Qualifiers
The Dew Tour is downright democratic compared to the X Games and other invitational pro snowboarding events: Any Fred Shred or Insane Jane who fights their way through the Open Qualifiers gets to throw down in Prelims, against the likes of Shaun White and Kelly Clark (last year's Dew Cup champions).

A handful of Colorado's finest made their way in at yesterday's Open Qualifiers at Breckenridge for the Totino's Open:

In the Men's Superpipe Prelims, keep an eye on Breckenridge team rider Zach Black: He finished in 2nd place in OQs, behind Norwegian rider Fredrik Austbo, and just last week found himself sharing a podium with Shaun White and Louie Vito at the U.S. Grand Prix event at Copper Mountain.

Speaking of Copper, another Summit County local finished right behind Black in OQs, in 3rd place: Copper Mountain team rider Dylan Bidez from Minturn, CO will also be riding in Prelims tomorrow, as will Matt Ladley, a young rider from Steamboat Springs who just made the OQs cut in 9th place.

In the women's competition, watch for 15 year-old Madeline Shaffrick from Steamboat Springs: She finished in 2nd place in OQs.

Not heading up to Breckenridge for the action? NBC will air its coverage from the Superpipe Finals on Saturday, December 19 1:00-3:00pm.
