Locals Only: Last-minute gifts for the ladies you love

outdoordivas.jpg
"We are a local store that could use a leg up this season," writes Marily Macdonald, marketing coordinator for the Outdoor Divas shops in Boulder and Cherry Creek, just as I'm heading out the door to scrape the snow off my car and scrape together the last of my last-minute holiday shopping.

How local? We put the question back to her and got a list of local lines carried in the Outdoor Divas shops:

Here are some of my favorites:

Tuxedo and Skull Goggles ($347) by Church and State Optics (Vail, CO).

A perfect pink/punk punch with Swarovski crystals and a skull and crossbones thrown on for good measure. Locavores beware: Kate Wingard designs the high-end goggles and runs her company out of Vail, but the goggles themselves are manufactured in Italy.

Tough Girl skirt/built-in running pants ($62.95) by SkirtSports (Boulder, CO)

This winter version of the signature running skirt from the ladies behind the SkirtChaser 5K race series features hidden pockets and a music port, plus built-in boot-cut running pants.

Milli mid-sized bag ($39.95) by Sherpani (Boulder, CO)

Local ladies love these Sherpani bags like nothing else, and you'll see them doing double duty as diaper bags and gear bags on Denver's sportier moms (and dads). This small tote has a reflective strip on the shoulder strap to alert out-of-town winter drivers to her presence, and a couple of cool pockets for stashing a cell phone and other essentials.

Ivy Recycled ($74.95) by Mountainsmith (Golden, CO)

Great sale price on this internal frame winter hydration pack, which comfortably carries skis or a snowboard, ice axes, avalanche shovels, and other cold-weather adventure gear.

Nimble 3/4 Hoodie ($74.95) by Stonewear Designs (Boulder, CO)

Cool cover-up from a company best known for its yoga gear and hiking clothing. The 3/4 length sleeves aren't going to cut it in serious snow or freezing cold, but when it's crisp and sunny out like it is for most of the winter in Colorado, she'll be all set.

Infinity Rocker ($449.95) by Never Summer (Denver, CO)

The women's version of Never Summer's award-winning SL-R all-mountain freestyle deck is lightweight and super-flexible, runs narrower than the men's board, and offers a forgiving ride in just about any conditions thanks to new rocker/camber and Vario Powergrip sidecut technology that is all the rage in snowboarding these days. Best of all: It's made right here in Denver.
