We get it, you've been saving up all month for your Mad Max Halloween costume and you're a little short on cash. That's okay, don't worry. You can still get out and have fun this weekend -- especially if your idea of fun includes building sandcastles, black comedies, dancing or culture.

Build-a-Bike at Derailer Bicycle Collective (Friday, Free)
Summer might be over, but Denver's abundant sunshine means even throughout the winter months the streets are often dry enough to ride on. The best way to keep away the winter doldrums is to get out and exercise, and a self-built bicycle is a great mode of transport. Keep in mind it takes two weeks to complete a bike, so don't plan on hitting the streets quite yet.

Talking of the Dead and Dead Ringers at the MacSpa (Friday-Saturday, Free)
You missed the opening reception and party on Thursday, but it doesn't mean you can't check out the Ouiji board-inspired artworks over the weekend. It's October after all, and there's no better way to celebrate Halloween than a toe-dipping into the occult.

Black Sheep Friday at MCA Denver (Friday, $5+)
Black Sheep Friday is always filled with completely random but always fun events. This week will not only include music from Littles Paia, but also sandcastle-building in the elevator.

The Watching Hour: Fright Night at Starz Filmcenter (Friday and Saturday, $9.25)
It's October, which can only mean one thing: horror movies. If you're not interested in the shock-and-awe of most modern films, you might want to make your way down to the Starz FilmCenter for the black-comedy-horror romp that is Fright Night.

Light Rail Flash Mob Dance Party at Dave and Busters (Friday, free)
For most people, it doesn't matter where they're partying, as long as they're partying hard. Some people want to spice it up a little, though. If you're in this group, you'll likely find solace in a flash mob dance party on the LightRail -- all it'll cost you is train fare. If nothing else, it's at least a safe way to get around.
