Secret Santa shopping got you down? Head back to the drawing board at 6 p.m. this coming Sunday to whip up some pin-ups at Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School, where Shotza Ouzo and Chalita Bang-Bang (a playful duo who frequent Denver's burlesque stages) will pose merrily as you scribble away. According to Vivienne VaVoom, burlesque darling and host of Denver's branch of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School, this month's models are "adorable and bendy and sexy," and will be creating some stop-motion holiday tableaux to beat the pants off that Courthouse nativity scene. Forget visions of sugarplums and start imagining how Santa props and two saucy sirens might inspire the best stocking stuffers you've ever produced.

Dr. Sketchy's monthly sessions have found a flexible new home at Illiterate Magazine Gallery, 82 South Broadway, says VaVoom. "It's a fantastic space. Low headroom in some of our previous spaces meant trouble for models with stilts, and we've tripled our attendance since moving to Illiterate this fall." Even with more seats available you should plan to arrive early for a good perch and the best beer selection. Bring your preferred supplies (dry media only), or let Dr. Sketchy's "helper monkeys" hook you up with crayons and coloring pages if you prefer simple Crayola catharsis.

"I went to art school and took life drawing classes," confesses VaVoom. "This is so much better. It's not pretentious, intimidating or boring. It's more like a party than a class, with music and prizes and drinks. A lot of our models are friends from the circus, dance, or drag scenes, and they know how to really have fun with their bodies and costumes."

Models start with a series of one-minute poses to kick off the session, then move on to longer poses so artists can get more detail into their drawings. Submitting your best or wackiest efforts at the end of the night might win you a festive prize, and don't forget to tip the models with some of your art they inspire.
