Get your Winter Solstice on with Ironton Studios
Though the big celestial event went down last night with the lunar eclipse, the aligning winter solstice is still full festive effect today. In celebration, Ironton Studios and Gallery at 3636 Chestnut Street has opened its doors for the third annual installment of its winter solstice gathering, beginning today at 4:30 p.m.
The festivities will honor the yearly seasonal turn with an evening of food and a cocktails -- both of which are welcomed but not required (and will also be provided by the gallery). Host Dawn McFadden will lead a solstice ceremony at 6:30 p.m. that begins with a moment of group stillness. Ironton also encourages bringing something symbolic to throw in the ritual fire, as a way to commemorate the "end of the darkness and the return of the light."
